Default Where you keep your dogs.

If you have outside dogs, I think it would be a good idea to put up a picture of where you keep your dogs?
[Gosh, I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. ]
Like.. how you keep your dogs from each other, ect. in kennels, on chains, in fences on chains.

I think this would be a good for people who are thinking about how they want to do theirs and maybe get an idea from these?

Blah. I hope you all know what I am say.
Sadly, I don't have a picture of where I keep Tyson.. or not yet anyhow, to show yall.

So basically what you're asking is for examples of how to properly contain these dogs?

This isn't my video...this is an aquaintance of mine who has the exact same set up as me.....Preifert Ranch Equipment powder coated 5x10s and 10x10s.

Hello SC. If you do a search in the gallery of yards and setups, you should get some pretty good results. Also check the forums. Hope this helps. Two of mine are on chain setups. In the winter, I put pinestraw in the houses with cedar chips to help keep them warm. Here's an old pic. Getting new house's next week. I hope to make them if Hubby still has time off work.

I don't have any pictures of just their chain set-ups.

Each of my dogs have a 15ft. chain, 5 gallon water bowls, a dog house, and a source of shade. All their chains are far enough away, so that they can't touch noses or tails, and so, that I can easily walk between them without, either dog touching me.

I'll try to get some pictures later today.

Im wondering what you guys that live in the city or apartments do with your dogs, I know some leave theirs in crates while they're gone but what if you got a wild one that cant stay put for 8hours like that?? Anyone have kennels setup indoors??? Very interested in hearing from ya, thks.

I don't live in a city, but I do keep my dogs inside. Yes, they are crated while we're away. While I'm here, I separate them in different rooms. Right now Terra is in the bedroom with me, Priest is on the other side of a barrier in the crate room (I can hear him chewing a bone), and Loki is out in the main part of the house. Our plan is to eventually set up runs outside so they can spend part of their day out there. But I have heard of people setting up kennels in their basements and whatnot.

    Thanks for the replies.

I really like how rallyracer has them in the first picture.
Although I'm a little stubborn with this, but I'd be scared they would break it?.. or something along those lines.

    Yeah, exactly.

I keep mine inside at night. I use the crate and gate method to keep them separated.

I have a few chain spots in the yard, but they're nothing special. I'll post up a picture or two tomorrow. I'm currently working on some dog-houses for shade, and I would eventually like to build some kennel runs.

It would be nice to see more pictures of how people have their dogs set up, and how it works for them.

When I move out, which yes; will be a good 4-5 years from now, I *PLAN* on rescueing the American Pit Bull's and such, and would like to get ideas, and this would also help others.
I don't see anything wrong with planning ahead and not needing it, then needing it and not planning, right?

    The right way...

No dogs in mud, all dogs have shade, water, food and dog house... these are outside dogs, and no they don't stay on the runs 24/7

How do you keep the spots from getting muddy? What do you have on the ground? We've got basically sand-soil here, but if you've hit on something that might be good to throw down in the future when we set up our runs, I'd love to hear it.

Marty is using the same thing he turned me onto and I use it also. It comes from the local quarry here and it's called screening or rock dust. It's very easy to keep clean and it's fine enough that it don't hurt the dogs or their feet. I'm glad I invested in some myself.

Will rock dust hurt the soil? Can grass grow over it? I need something to put down b/c every winter my chain spaces turn into mud pits. The landlord will not let us put down pea gravel b/c he says he does not want the yard marred after we leave. So we're left buying bale upon bale of straw to keep my chain spots dry each winter.

I'm sure the grass would grow back through it when the dog is off the area, I have grass coming back where the dogs are not that active
