    Default Brindles harder to show?

I have heard it said that brindle dogs are harder to show b/c their striped coat tends to make the effects of conditioning harder to see.

    Anything to this?

ABK, I have heard the same thing. And I have a brindle dog, it is harder to see any muscle tone on her as opposed to my red dog. It's also harder to see on my white dog, too.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was just me!

I have 2 pups I want to take to a show 1 is brindle & 1 is buckskin. I can only take one, so I wanted to know if what I heard about brindles is true. Both are nice looking pups (IMO anyway!), but I do not want to put a bunch of work into the brindle for naught.

I have had a hard time with the dark brindles, but my light brindle little girl has already placed and that was after a 5hr ride to the show. I had a dark brindle little lady who had a killer silhoute, but you had to be up on her to see the definition. Here is a little tip.....we used to make our darks look wet or slicked up like a 50s style hair do, it helped to show some definition.

The muscle tone doesn't show up as nicely IMO making it a bit harder, but there are plenty of brindle CH both dark and light colored. Just light is easier IMO as well like others have said

yes brindles are harder to show in any breed,,,alot of judges won't even look at a brindle in the ring,,,they just don't like them,,,Its not so much the muscle conditioning as it is when the judge wants to see movement,,which is hard to see on a brindle coat. I have seen very nice brindles put up many times though.

Their own class is just for the fun shows. No points for those wins.
