Unhappy California gets better and better everyday

Got this in my email this morning on the BSL list. I suggest everyone write or call and urge him NOT to sign this piece of crap bill.

Governor Schwarzenegger May Act Today on Bill to Restrict Chaining of Dogs!
    by Dan Paden, PeTA
    Wednesday Sep 20th, 2006 1:28 PM
As you know, keeping dogs chained — or "tethering," as it's sometimes called (http://www.helpinga nimals.com/ ga_chained. asp) — is cruel because it deprives these highly social pack animals of proper socialization and often leaves them unable to reach whatever shelter, food, and water they've been provided. The dogs grow aggressively protective of their tiny spaces and often attack children (http://www.helpinga nimals.com/ ga_chained_ summaries. asp) and other people who come near them. A piece of legislation that would help make California a safer place for dogs and the public — Senate Bill 1578 — has been passed by the Assembly and the Senate; it must be signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in order for it to become law.
As soon as possible, please urge Governor Schwarzenegger to do the right thing and sign this legislation! The governor is anticipated to sign or veto this bill very soon.

If it becomes law, SB1578 (http://www.leginfo. ca.gov/pub/ bill/sen/ sb_1551-1600/ sb_1578_bill_ 20060420_ amended_sen. html) would prohibit a person from tethering, fastening, chaining, tying, or restraining a dog to a doghouse, tree, fence, or any other stationary object for longer than three hours in any 24-hour period.

Please politely urge Governor Schwarzenegger to sign SB1578:

    The Honorable Arnold Schwarzenegger
    Governor of California
    State Capitol Building
    Sacramento, CA 95814
916-445-2841 (press 1, then 2, then 4, then 1 to support this bill)
    916-445-4633 (fax)
    E-Mail: http://www.govmail. ca.gov/

    http://gov.ca. gov/index. php/site/ contact-governor

Please pass this message to others in California who might be willing to lend their voices to this important issue. California's forgotten and neglected dogs are counting on you.

Thank you for your continued compassion for animals. Let's get this bill signed into law!

Sent an e-mail opposing this. All it will do is let more dogs raom around without any restraints and it will lead to more animal attacks.

The governator has heard from me. People are always looking for something to ban. The legislation keeps getting tougher and harsher, but not smarter.

You know they want them on a leash in a public place but want them to run free too. Liberals really are a total contradiction no matter how you look at them. I was watching tv for the first time this year and it was about Steve Erwin and that tragic way he went and how wonderful he was to his family and fans. I liked him allot. Then they show that bitch who is the president sausage bite of PETA and she is complaining about him and just plain being a bitch about his life and the way he did his work. I would like to stick my hand down her throught and rip her damn lungs out. I can't see much use for a woman like that. I doubt that she would even make good firtilizer for the soil with out contaminating it with her venom and hate. She just has a head that would look good with a baseball bat bouncing off of it about a hundrid times.

Any who. California has way too many of these kind of people and some of them are polititions. It is insane. domesticated animals must be contained as they tend not to fear humans but can be territorial and there territory will not just end at the property line they don't have a concept of property line their property line ends at some sort of pee zone. They don't understand that a dog isn't human it is in fact a predator no matter how stinking cute they are. And letting them run is not only a public danger but one to the animal from cars, shooting, other dogs, coyotes, wolves etc. Bears in some cases. In Colorado I got to hunt down several cougars that were killing dogs and other pets as prey to eat. They can mess up a pack of dogs fast if you don't pull that damn trigger fast. Any way I sent them all a happy letter.
