How much conditioning is too much?

I discovered a great new conditioning technique yesterday. OK, I doubt I am the first to think of this, but it was the first time for me.

Get some kids playing soccer. Have them kick a ball back and forth between them. Let the dog chase the ball, while the kids play keepaway.

The kids enjoyed this game, and the dog goes absolutely crazy trying to get that ball. Redhead played so hard yesterday that he was foaming at the mouth. Even so, he was crying when I took him home.

Am I letting Redhead overdo it?

This Is A Lil Hard To Answer Hes You Baby You Must Get A Feel For When Hes Running Hot. Foam Is Not Always A Sign, Watch His Tounge If It Rolls Backwards Like In A Circle Hes Getting Warm..........every Banjo Bred Dog I Have Foams All Day Tryint To Get At Thier Buddies In The Yard Lol

  3. Thats a giid idea, until your dog gets ahold of the ball and pops it like ours did. Shes been through a soccer ball and three basket balls in the last 6 months :). Good exercise though. Ours have been swimming alot lately, they love the water, and its finally warm enough for them, only bad thing is they need a bath afterwards :).

Yeah, just watch him, especially if its hot. He could overheat. If he looks really tired, then make him stop and have a drink.
I would watch the balls too, my girl just went through a soccer ball, basketball and a tennis ball in 10 minutes the other day. Time to invest in a jolly ball.

  7. i walk my dogs as much as i can and well when we walk we walk for a while.....and sometimes he comes home foaming at the mouth as well....best thing to do is have water with you and when you see that he is foaming or just looks tired offer him water....if he doesnt take it and is panting heavyly...which he probably will be dont force him to drink he is hot and needs to cool down....if your just letting him run around on his own like that.....he'll know but just have water for him to have.....
