    Doggie Day Camp

    What is doggie day camp?
Your best friend can spend the day in one of our climate-controlled play rooms playing with other dogs and our safety-certified, pet-loving staff trained in behavior assessment.
What are the benefits of doggie day camp?
Doggie day camp provides play, exercise and socialization with fully supervised, personalized attention. Dogs of all ages will enjoy making new friends, and you'll have peace of mind knowing that our safety standards are unparalleled. Plus, participating in doggie day camp is a good way to help reduce boredom for your pet.
    Who may attend?
    • Dogs at least five months of age
    • Dogs who have been socialized with other dogs
    • Dogs who are in good health (no fleas, ticks or contagious illnesses)
    • Dogs who have the following vaccinations: Bordetella, Rabies, Distemper, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus (please provide written proof from a veterinarian)
    Who may not attend?
    • Intact (unneutered) male dogs or pregnant females
    • Dogs who haven't been socialized with other dogs
    • Dogs in the "bully breed" classification (e.g. Pit Bull Terriers, American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, American Bull Dogs or mixed breeds that have the appearance or characteristics of one of these breeds)
    • Wolves/wolf hybrids
How do I register my dog?
To ensure that all campers are healthy and happy, we employ a free, comprehensive health and temperament prescreening assessment for each prospective camper. Please ask a doggie day camp pet care specialist for more details.

Please click here to find a Doggie Day Camp near you.

While I don't agree with the "No Bully Breeds" rule, responsible owners probably shouldn't be taking any sort of bulldog to these doggie daycare places. I've seen how the PetSmart ones are handled. They hire mostly ignorant teenagers without a clue about dogs.

Insurance reasons people!!! Not that Petsmart has a choice in the matter. Race has nothing to do with this issue. If a persons color had something to do with why petsmart did not keep your dog then it would be Racist!

SLICK WILLIE MY POINT WAS IS THAT THEY ARE BEING discriminatory TO OUR BREED. THAT'S NOT FAIR. IF ALL BREEDS CAN'T GO THEN THEY SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS PROGRAM AT ALL. SOME PETSMARTS WON'T EVEN GROOM ANY BULLIES.

I know what your saying! I'm in Jacksonville and the petsmart handles all breeds here. Just depends where you are and the people incharge.

I Just Think It's Crap It's Like Saying Well All Kids Can Come And Play But The Ones With The Red Hair Your Not Aloud. Not Like I Would Take My Dogs There Any Way I Don't Trust People I Don't Know With My Dogs. It's Just The Point That's All.

The Pet Smart here in Annapolis, MD is very APBT friendly. When my oldest girl was a puppy she went to puppy classes to help start the obedience and social training. It was a blast! Pups had fun and owners had fun and everyone learned about each others breed. We were able to overcome alot of the stereotype associated w/ the APBT. Of course they were pups and will they be playing together when the are 2 yrs. old?? I don't know but if so, my gal will always be watched closely by myself.

I am planning on taking my new pup too.

About 3 or 4 times a week they both go to day care and I have had no problems to date. The people are ALL very, very into there jobs and big supporters of our breed. They understand how to best group the dogs and I trust them completely. I guess that's not always the case...

Anyway BOO to the Pet Smart where you live. I almost want to stop shopping at my local one but it's the only place I can find Royal Canin...

My daughter worked at a doggie day care similar to that one at petsmart. It's name is animal house. The staff was not knowledgeable about dogs. In order to break up a fight, and they had a few, they were told to throw dog food at them. How stupid is that? These people did not have a break stick and probably don't know what one is. They did not have any bully breeds in the fights to my knowledge. But hell, I would rather break up a bully fight than other breeds. At least you can more or less predict what the bully will do.

The PetSmart where I live will groom my APBTs. The lady who runs the obedience classes is always loving on Ozzy when we take him in. He gets a lot of attention and love when we take him in there. Its the same when we take him anywhere around here.

To single out anyone particular breed (race) is prejudice and racist.

While I wouldn't term this as "fair", because yes, it does target a specific "breed", I do however kind of equate it with the dog park issue: in both instances, dogs are free to roam and run around, and being that the pit is a dog aggressive breed, the Petsmart Doggie Day Care is doin the "ounce of prevention" thing.

Yes, imo, preventing/predicting liabilities and insurance claims.
Fair? Perhaps many will feel not.
    Smart, I'm thinkin so...

My petsmart is APBT friendly and we also do not have the day camp program. and besides people SHOULDN'T be taking thier dogs to a day camp anyways. Thats as bad as taking an APBT to the dog park. and you know damn well if they allowed them that some stupid idiot would take thier APBT to day camp and then it would be all over the news when it kills another dog.

Smart in preventing/predicting liabilities etc... true to a degree, but is it morally right? to single out a whole breed for the actions of a few? Its like saying african americans shouldnt be allowed to own guns because they are more prone to robberies and violence. Will that help reduce crime? Im sure it would but is it morally right to single out all the african americans for the actions of a few? Hell NO they should only punish the individual and not the whole race or breed like the saying you did the crime so you should do the time or punish the deed not the breed. To ban a whole breed or race is basically like a quick and easy fix to solve this problem by sweeping a whole race or breed under the rug. When will it end which breed will be next the German Shepard the Rotweiller,Chow, and bull terrier etc...and after animals will we humans be next? Think about it? USA is known as the land of the free yet we have more rules than any other country in the world with more new rules being made everyday.
