Corvino Blood

Discussion in 'APBT Bloodlines' started by Michaelspits, Feb 21, 2006.

  1. Was wondering if Corvino was good blood and what's a good cross?

  2. Might want to start out with a tightly bred line that you know something about, before considering an outcross. Just my suggestion. That's one thing i didn't consider a long time ago and ran into alot of great dogs that couldn't produce due to scatter-bred peds. Out crossing is a HUGE gamble...and if you dont have good stuff to begin with (which corvino should be)...chances for success (in whatever you do with the dogs) will be minimal. Personally, im not well-enough-informed on those dogs to give advice about them....but i'm sure you can do a search and find lots of good info right here on this site.

  3. I have a 4 generation pedigree that I recieved with the dog. I've had a couple of local breeders look at it and they all said everything on it was corvino blood. I have a female with the same sire as the male but different dam. I haven't recieved pedigree for female yet. I'm fixing to have a litter drop from the two. It should be real tight bred pups.

Here's a cross of the Corvino blood that I personally knew was good. Be careful the Corvino dogs of today CANNOT stand alone, need to breed to some gameness to help them. They usually have a good bite & are athletic but won't stay for the ending.

The OLD MAN (JD) who owned CH."RED PIRATE" had a devastating bitch (ELI/CORVINO/SALOON)... Dat bitch had some pressure:)

  10. Late 80's to early 90's there where those that had the blood from way back. Most don't run it anymore because like was said earlier, the blood cannot stand on its own. And, the gameness is what is lacking.

The Corvino dogs i saw in the 60s&70s didn't have to be too game. But they were some of the gamest bred.In the late 70s some of the older guys would cross Corvino and Mason's Hog most of the Hog stuff was dead game

I am with you BB - If someone has something that would be concidered "tight" corvino, must have either a time machine or someone saved some straws, ----well when did sperm services even begin?
My brindle dog goes back in all directions, and one of them is through a dog called Masons Hammer, which came down from Corvino stuff way back when. Masons Hog too.
Corvino is said to be some of the gamest shit you could get back than, so----So I want t know more on them not being so....
tndog - pm me and lets talk about them mason dogs....;)

A lot of people are ignorant and have no authority on what type of dogs cannot stand on their own. Crosses can make mutants, fact, but to say any family of dogs cannot hold its own is foolish.

Corvino did great things and produced great dogs in his day, but that was long ago what kennels continued
    heavy in their blood?
