Foul mouth

Aloha folks,
My bitch @approx 9 yrs old is an AB
She’s my official assistence dog.

Her breath smells like a sewer to say the least. If you get a wife it will make ur head snap back reflexively.

Sometime last fall she started grinding/gritting her teeth.
Note: her teeth were extra small from the time I took her off the street.

went to Petco and mentioned it to the dude at the counter. He said his dog had the same issue. They did surgery to remove some teeth. Then he says 2yrs later smells just like before.

I don’t know anymore details about his dog except what I said already.

so, anyone know from experience what is the cause of her stench breath and more importantly a solution that doesn’t cost a ton? On a Fixed income and only keep $1,500 on hand for vet emergencies.

I looked up teeth cleaning and saw $400 = yikes smdh.

I don’t need guesses, what I need is actual first hand experience or reliable second hand knowledge. Thx

 

Without personally knowing the dog or you then only thing your getting is a guess.

 

Teeth cleaning, Carefully remove tartar plaque with the back of a teaspoon.

 

Add a little parsley to the dog's food. You can also add a little plain yogurt to the food. You can also add 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar to the food.

 

What do you feed?

 

RAW bones....

 

Have already given her dental chews and still have some.
i’m pretty sure she’s not going for the spoon to loosen tartar
I can go back to vinegar in the water though
10 ppm colloidal silver sprayed by mouth should kill/inhibit anything alive that shouldn’t be there.
Cost 400$ and up for teeth cleaning with a quick search online.

 

If it's that bad it is most likely an oral abscess. If so veterinary dentistry is only way to resolve it. Antibiotics can temporarily help but will proper treatment will just come back.

 

This is what I do .keeps the teeth much cleaner this way especially compared to dogs fed kibble

 

I’ve had a problem with bad breath and dry foods. I’d add raw eggs, just crack the shells if your dog has never had them. The shells do an excellent job at scraping all the excess shit of their teeth. Coconut oil is also an excellent additive for bad breath. Add a tablespoon or so to any food. Good luck
