Started building my first slat mill but need help on the slat if there should be space between it or not and how big space. I read something of it can rip. The nails out of the dogs paw. Will realy be thankful for any advice

There should be a space between slats , the belt will bunch up and not move correctly , I used 1/4" tile spacers between the slats when i built mine

Thanks Mextra. And what better to use rivet or flat heat bolt to put it all together?

Would like to see it! Planning in attempting a slat mill soon. There's a facebook group called new and used slat mills for sale with some good info.

At the very least the gap would have to be as wide as the slat is thick.

Well i guess you would have to take the drum size into consideration too..

Thanks guys this is my 1st attempt building one and I'm a bit confuse. Is it a must for the wheels to run on the belt? And I'm also broke so I used small bicycle rims for the main wheels and skateboard wheels in the middle so all I need now is to put the belt together lol and my frame is made out of wood

What will happen if I don't space it if I put it back to back?

Think you need something better than seatbelt

I would not use seat belt material.. if you can't afford pvc 120 you could use fire hose material

I can't find any other material I've been all over every hardware now don't know why its so difficult to find pvc belt or fire hose

You'll have to order the pvc 120 online.
