Happy new year to everyone!!! ;)

The time has come to construct a pitbull bull club! Those of you in and around the Atlanta area and anyone else that can come by are welcome and encouraged to come. Game dog and non game dog owners are able to join, if you love the breed come and join. We will be holding a meeting at 3:00 Jan 22 to discuss the creation of the club and also to enlist intial members. This is an effort to create year round competions, shows, and year round fun for all good pit bull owners.

These will be local and fun events for experienced and begginer dog owners. Many plans and ideas are being made and will be presented at the meeting. This meeting will be held only by the owners, no dogs will be present this first time. We hope to start this new year with year round fun and contests so come and join. Those interested message me for the address of the meeting.

Those who can't make it are encouraged to post ideas right here on this thread of what can be done to help make this successful. Any suggestions would help, thanks;)

There will be no judges at the contests, all winners will be decided and voted by the club members.

Actually if anyone lives in an area that does'nt have a local club and events for pit bulls please get together with some friends and do the same. Everyone you meet that has a pit bull and is a good owner invite them in your club. You can get a good # of people going in no time then everyone can have fun.

I would love to do something like that where I live. There is nothing but negative responces around here for any bullie breed. I think a club of some sort would be fun and educating for people that love the breed and who are not familiar with it. Just don't know how to get it started.

I was a member of the Georgia apbt club last year. They had a couple of shows in Macon and one in Statesboro. I have been looking for new info on their website and there never is any new stuff anymore. I don't think they had enough events. I would have gone to more stuff. It seemed to me though that Mrs. Hooks, the expresident of the club, had a awful lot to do with the judging that went on at the shows. I would be more interested in going to events that would earn my dogs points towards a championship or something. Nothing against having fun. But why not have fun and boost your dog up at the same time. For example, they have Scooter or sulkey races with pits in other states. Not exactly sure where, but I have really been thinking about getting involved in something like that. Good exercise for the dog and fun for the owners too. Anybody ever been to one of those races? It sounds like a blast.

I think you'd be suprised, once you got the word out. We ALWAYS have a great turn out, at our Mass club. People who love this breed are always searching for others to join in the "commorardy".(sp???) Throw an ad in your local paper, and see what happens. Ours is 10 years now, and going strong! I wish you luck!!!(I bet you'll be pleasantly suprised at the responses you get....)!

Just to let you know Mrs. Hooks is no longer on the board of officers, but will remain a member. I have been elected President, Idgie is Treasurer, Marty is EBA officer, Jay has stayed on as V.P., Katherine also staying, will change to Public relations rep, and a good friend of mine Ben is on as Secretary. The reason things have not been updated to this point is, that we had to wait until Jan. 1st for the switch to take place as the ADBA goes by calendar year. Keep an eye on the site as it will be updated within the week with the new info. They did hold two fun shows and weight pulls last year, the ADBA requires that two fun shows be held with a new club before they can hold a pointed show. The first pointed show this year will be end of March or early April, I am in contact with the ADBA on the exact dates at this time and will be glad to advise not only on the club site, but here also. I hope you will continue to support this club as there will be many more events to come, shows, weight pulls, family picnics, etc. As a side note, judges for the fun shows are usually locals as the ADBA does not require card holding judges for these events, and the cost for a carded judge is quite high considering their fee, hotel cost, plane tickets, food cost, etc. I have already contacted the judges we are hoping to use for the first pointed show, and it will be judged by ADBA standard, there will be no sway for any particular type of dog. Answering your question about scooter or sulky races, if there are people out ther that would like to have these please contact me directly, my email and pm can be found here. I would be glad to hold these events as fun classes since they are not recognized ADBA events. I am open to any other fun events that you would like to have at the shows, so please let me know,we are glad to provide anything that the majority would like to see. Thanks again for your continued support,

    GAPITS

We live in Creswell, NC. It is a remote area with a very small population. I would love to find a club near our area. Does anyone know of one?
