Meh. He's got good bite. A punisher for sure. But he's rarely ever in top condition for a match. In addition I don't know if he's really a Ch. the owner seems like a good guy so maybe.

He probably wouldn't. Lacks the gameness and speed from what I've seen. But as far as amstaffs go, I like him.
Some people use USA rules there. It's growing more popular. The way the rules a are set up, imo, a short match proves nothing, but a long match tells a lot.

Having a white dog I only know to well about skin cancer risks. White does reflect the heat where as black absorbs it but prone to sun damage. Surprised the Gull Terr and Bully kutta were not given a bit more colour in them. Suppose the local often wear white in hot countries to deflect the heat, but a bit different when its fur and skin on display.

EP. I thought a lot of the old Southern Bulldogs were White or a mix of white and brindle, the ones that Johnson is reported to have rounded up for his creation of The American Bulldog an also mainly White dog.

Other White dogs in hot countries include the Dogo in Argentina although I believe the White coat was used for better visibility when hunting to spot the dogs and also if the get injured it's easier to spot any wounds on a short haired white dog and treat quicker.

The Australians seem to use a fair amount of white dogs for hunting, various Bull Terrier crosses like the Bull Arab.

The Gull Terr and Bully Kutta in India as well, so there must be something in it unless its just a case of the Bull Terrier influence dictating the white colour.

You would think they would breed working dogs as close as the native dogs that are better suited to the heat and conditions, like they did with the Aussie Cattle dog, took the local dog Dingo, mixed in collies and also some Bull Terrier blood if you are to believe the breed history.

The native dogs in the very hottest of continents, Africa, are multi coloured wild dogs of medium length hair so surely that is the best recipe to cope with hot and dusty conditions.

I suppose the dogs are taken out for working then back to the shade soon after.

Old Sothern Bulldogs are still white , large percentage are..If I get a American Bulldog you can bet he will be solid white and from working stock.

My friends Johnson American Bulldog is a bit nuts to be honest. She will bite anyone if i'm walking her and they try to stroke her, she's bit the chinese delivery man and my neighbour. Also a pretty lazy dog. She's not from any working lines to my knowledge though. She's not good with other dogs at all apart from a few she knows like my dog.

She's only 70lbs and could be a lot lighter. Most American Bulldogs in the UK are mixes of the Hines and Johnson types. The Males tend to be huge compared to the females.

She's noisy as hell when she plays with my dog, very vocal.

Snowbird is a legend. The color isn't the problem, it's the dogs' muzzle usually. White doesn't solve the heat problem, otherwise most working dogs, all kinds, today would be white IMO

WOW great video. Huge difference in the Working American Bulldog and my friends pet. A dog the size of those two in the video would give no chance to most men on the planet if it took exception to an intruder. There's too many poorly bred American Bulldogs over here, lot's of them are huge and very lumbering with more like the squashed up English Bulldog face and hip dysplasia.

Thing about American Bulldogs is that they vary as much as "pitbulls". Some just yard ornaments, some lazy but work when needed, then the ones used daily catching rank hogs and whatever else needed doing. there are people using these dogs and not because they are breed enthusiasts. They need something done and they have good examples that fit the bill. Not theory or legend, just real working dogs.

My friends dog is like that. She has had to have two stomach pumps for eating whole boxes of chocolates. She's eaten 3 tubs of Nivea face cream, and I once had to pull a metre length of packing tape out of her ass on a walk. Funnily enough the tape said handle with care, lol.

She can open doors and get to most stuff if she really wants to.

I had a 50lb Satffordshire Bull Terrier Cross that got hold of her and wouldn't let go until I choked him and knelt on his neck, when she opened the door to my house and ran in.

Cost me a fair bit in vets bills to fix the situation.

My old dog in question. The cone is due to a skin condition.

    nice exchange...

white reflects the heat and black absorbes it,,,
so a white dog in the hotter areas fading to black in the coldest areas would be ideal and you figure
they might even evolve to these colors via origins...

but than I could counter that with polar bears being white in the cold
all the way to the hottest regions have the darkest skin humans and vice versa...

so its an interesting theory and all I can add is my dad had a white dog with a few red ticks
that was the most athlethic dog I ever seen and could chase a flirt pole or tennis ball in very hot dry weather for
    abnormal extended periods of time...

I would say a combo of being that speacial dog combined with the white color was a combination
that not even a hot day in texas could compete with...

The black fox told stories of taking a light buckskin almost blonde dog with zero mouth and about
half in the abilty department,,, into a black dog around the hottest time of the year under the son come noon break,,, not many can beat that combination of color,,, heat and a dead game dog...

I guess the theory being the sun will take any mouth and abilty out of the better charge making for an old fasion scratching contest...

Another reason perhaps to why alot of those black eli and aligator dogs were quiting in the southern states...

I also noticed hot days in the sun rarely slow down my neighbors jack russells or a friends english bull terriers...

I agree about those other bulldogs muzzle being the determing factor between the terriers I mentioned,,,
even though both they are all whiter breeds...

The reason the dogos were bred white was to be seen on the field,,,
well the first imports to texas blew the bulldogs out the water in many facets,,,
from being a running catch dog to the muzzles and the white coat coupled as not only being seen but also
keeping them cooler in those scorching texas heat allowing them to catch multiple hogs that are at the other end of the color spectrum which seems to only hurt them...

This goes back to origins and colors,,,
the southern razorbacks were dark and smaller,,,
the russian conterparts that were imported were redder and bigger
to follow in the polar bear standards...

the size in colder areas might be contributed to the winter weight they gain and evolving into bigger animals or from bigger animals from the ice ages???

probably way to much tampering by man in these dogs to see them morph into color correct species to origins...

EP I think the Polar Bear has evolved to have a White coat for camouflage into it's icey surroundings. Another factor is the brightness of the sun in those cold climate and a fur lined animal has a white coat to reflect the sun.

Unless a dog has long hair then I don't think it matters too much in the heat, although Black dogs will suffer more as they absorb the heat.

A white dog can suffer from skin cancer in hot climates if left in the baking sun. There is a reason why in hot countries they paint their houses in light colours to detract the heat, and wear white or light coloured garments.

When Inwent to Greece couldn't believe the amount of old ladies wearing the traditional Black gown attire, must be boiling for them.

If you look at the old Colby dogs around the turn of the 20th Century so many of them are White. Probably just a throwback to the Bull Terrier.

Comparing Polar Bears to Humans? LMAO...Animals have fur covering almost there entire body which acts as protection against the elements. Lighter colors do not absorb as much heat as darker colors.

When comparing skin colors in humans its a little different. Did yawl know that the skin color that gets easily burned is the skin color that is the most lightest which is usually WHITE, while the darker skin colors are more resilient to sun burn especially BLACK.

Yeah we know. I Never compared Polar bear to humans, don't know what you were reading there.

Obviously the hotter countries have natives with darker skin. Can't argue anything other than that. Reduces risk of skin cancer. Dogs are different, a coat protects them as you well know. Longer haired dogs are better suited to colder climates, shorter haired dogs whatever the colour can deal with heat better. And your point is?

I mentioned that counter already but the troll saiy over looks it with his counter type personality,,,
you can agree but cant come to terms with not countering or having the last word...

The sheik wear white or lite colors in the desert,,, even though their skin is dark,,, so???

Black peoples skin also keloid different than others leaving scars,,, so???

add something as you saiy nothing that matters,,, interact and quit f'ing up threads,,,trollio...
