They used to say that about kimono dragons (sp). I saw a wild life show that said what actually happens is they bite then the water buffalo would run into mud pits full of shit and piss the wounds would get infected turn to blood poisoning then die.

Either the monitor just ate it it was cold out cause that lizard should of been moving faster but hell they shoulda ate it themselves instead of the dog

That's true for Komodo dragons. I'm sure you could get a nasty infection from a monitor, but I doubt it would be fatal.

It all depends if it eats dead things that's why their bite is so deadly

The kimodo dragon has over 50 different bacterias in there mouth there not poisonous just nasty..they literally will watch a water buffalo drink water they have drooled in then follow it for days/weeks until it's weak enough to take down..same after they bite they will just follow the prey

"Experts initially presumed that meat and other bits of food stuck between the lizard’s teeth carried dangerous strains of bacteria, causing such a reaction in those who were bitten; however, it was discovered a few years ago that this reaction is actually the result of venom that is unleashed when the lizard bites. This venom is not fatal to humans, but it can cause illness and pain. The real danger in a monitor lizard’s venomous bite is for small animals or infants. The venom stops blood from clotting, causes a rapid drop in blood pressure, and heightens the pain associated with the bite. Researchers have even found that monitor lizard venom contains crotamine, the same poison found in rattlesnake venom. Though it should be noted that it is present in such small amounts that it is not fatal to humans, it is still a sobering thought. The monitor lizard’s venom acts as a sort of knockout punch to small mammals and birds, so if you have a small child or a cat, dog, or other pet, it would be unwise for you to adopt a monitor lizard."
