what would you consider these dogs?

okay. so let's say you have a yard of dogs, but you don't want to campaign them due to the authorities. so you want to test in you own yard. if your yard is full of tested dogs and you match one dog into 3 tested dogs and he wins, is he a 3xwinner? or is it just a roll since he wasn't campaigned. because i know a of a dog who was successfully "tested" 9 times and got up to 2 hours on a few. yet this dog has not one title. would you still call that dog a 9xwinner ? or just game tested?

In short, no I wouldn't consider someone who goes into their own dogs on their own yard as wins. Just what CB said.

It's a good way to Guage your own dogs as far as what the best on your own yard is but ideally you want to do that with other people's dogs to get an idea where your dogs stand on the larger scale.

If you don't want to end up with A whole lot of grief, forget about that type of Champion or Grand Champion, those days are over. A lot of people saw the trouble coming before 1976, TOTALY private 4-5 people only to A side, no posting wins or who was were do'n what! I know it sucks but that's the way it is in this country anyway! I totally miss the big conventions great times! I sure miss the competition of A good race! Best of Luck

Now if you got more people in your circle that do the same and then you all look at them together and weed out the best of four or five yards your in a lot better position than just being solo. It's a big world these days and you cannot get the best or be deemed the best if you stay at one GPS coordination. Maybe you can see enough to please yourself depending on what expectations you carry, but no, those don't count as wins. Now a better question is, if a few buddies all had yards, and they go into each other, do you count those as wins or just long distance schooling??

If they set a catch weight and follow all the other guidelines I don't see why it wouldn't be considered a match. After all, from history most matches were made between people who were friends or had mutual friends. Game circles are even smaller nowadays

i know some guys in punjab. like 3 people max if they got serious. even though they have huge ass tournaments. they keep conditioning, feeding tips, breeding tips, etc. to themselves. one thing i've always wondered is why the game isn't more popular in OZ. if you've got land, no one will criticize you for having some bulldogs with scars on your yard as long as you keep some mutts and boar hounds (which you can you for game tests). they'll just think they're catch dogs. :/

Last I heard pit bulls were banned in OZ. also Ozzy hog hunters do not hunt like the ones in the states. Different style and dogs. Very few run an American style catch dog.

They aren't banned they're restricted in most states which means they cannot be imported, aren't allowed to be bred except in special circumstances and must be muzzled in public. Most lines over here are used for hunting and a dog that turns on another dog is a massive liability so much of the DA has been watered down. I'm sure it happens somewhere although most dog match related arrests that make the media here are amateur wanna be thugs using bait dogs (stolen pets) etc

Ok I was wrong. I understood they were banned. I do know from what I have read the lead in catch dog is by far a minority in OZ. the bull Arab finder holder style dogs seem to be the number 1 choice there. I would love to go to OZ and watch some good dogs work in the varying terrain.

Yeah the walk in catch dog is very rare, even the very hard holding dogs are expected to have at least some finding ability on their own. If you ever do come over, give me a message and I can help you get on a few hunts
