So I have a 50# mutt, I got some pvc 1/2" thick and was wondering what a good length would be so I can make a flirt pole. What length does everyone else use that works well?

Thanks, I was just curious cause I've tried it before to see if he'd go for it and he did, but I used a heavy wooden pole and finally decided to make him one lol

I used to make 6' long PVC pipe ones with around an 18" vinyl rope and a cowhide lure. The pups bent the PVC nearly double into a U shape.

Did they break? lol and well I think I'll try my luck with the 5 foot, I was thinking of using rabbit fur but I have to get and kill a rabbit first. Don't know if it'll hold though

Ohh I'll get some cow hide then, trouble is I live in Mexico and don't know where too get it. I'll have to look around and ask. Thanks for the help

  8. Taxidermist will have deer hide left over from trimmings. Ask one for the scrap and simply stretch it on a piece of plywood and attach with nails pour some salt to help dry it out and place it in the sun. It is not strong enough to let the dog hang by it but works great for flirt poles. Just get it from the dog as soon as possible to keep them from tearing it up.

mine the pvc is about 4' and the bungee is about 5', wish it were longer though.

Well the pvc is long enough to get two out of it, a 5ft and a 4ft one, I might make both and see which works for me. I never thought of deer, that would be hard for me to get here though.

I use a horse whip from Tractor Supply. I've been using this one "toy" without changing it for a few years now. Works like a charm! No hide on the end or anything...just the whip itself.

Wish I knew where to get one, I live in Mexico. I'm sure there's places around here but I already went ahead and made a flirtpole with pvc. That will be the next choice if this doesn't work though, thanks
