And a bite cannot be increased...they have it or they do not. Working the mouth often hurts more than helps.

 

Plenty of people sharpen teeth. Canines get dull.

I hear people say that mouth can't be worked or increased. A dog has it or not as a matter of personality, and it's a matter of whether the dog wants to bite hard or not versus the ability to bite hard, as all dogs have the ability to bite hard.

I don't know how this could be measured or proven. It seems to me that some bite work like springpole might get a dog used to holding something in its mouth while in motion, etc. But that opinion of mine isn't based on anything except thinking about it.

I guess the q&a would be which one to breed for and what to utilize...

I believe mouth can be added or taken away during a keep . Gameness is all on the dog .

 

I have seen dogs show tremendous mouth in rolls and come match day can't bust a grape . I've also seen dogs with no mouth in rolls show more in the show. Your keep will impact your dog mouth whether intended or not good or bad. If mine not game I'm not betting don't really care what his mouth like.

Is it possible to work on a dogs mouth gradually as he or she grows? I am still new to this. Sure would appreciate a good answer.

 

only thing you can do is work the neck muscles ...behind the jaw muscles .

not while they growing .....

 

So basically ,there is nothing you could do for them as they grow to increase mouth?
