And the new game test is......

    How about hog hunting?

Who ever said dog-fighting is the original game test of these dogs to begin with? For most of their history they were bull biters and their dog-fighting phase began only with the prohibition of that sport. To say dog-fighting is the ONLY way to test their gameness speaks more of your own wants and habits than the true nature of these dogs.

    Bull "biters"?

Hog hunting is totally different ! it is however a sport that I do like..But this is not a true game test for a APBT .Thier is and only one true test for a potential game dog.Never will it change.

That's a statement, not an argument. You fail to explain WHY is it "only" and "true" test and WHY it will never change.

Of course the test will change, just like it changed after bull-fighting prohibition in England when the gameness was comprahended as dog's inclination to charge at infuriated bull and bull-fighting the "only true" test. Back than dog-fighting was something "totally different" too.

The test IS changing as many respectable breeders don't have anything to do with dogfighting anymore under the pressure of public opinion and law.

Your on the wrong site for this arguement! Your test only shows dogs.ability to catch and hold and thier are other breeds that can acomplish this..Its not a true measure.of the heart .

  9. user316

    user316 Pup

Of course it is and even more so since wild hogs are considerably larger opponents than other dogs. Bulls were larger opponents too and it took much more guts for the original working bulldogs to confront 2,000 pounds animals and endure to the bitter end.

I know there's nothing that will change the mindset of your ilk but it should be made clear that gameness testing is not the real reason why you condone this atrocious felony.

Your wrong ! and I will not have this ridiculous arguement with you! if this is your belief then it's you who is lost ,so continue on! I really don't give a shit.

Hunting is the natural canine activity but dogs fighting each other to death is not the observable behavior of pack animals in their natural environment. When you entertain your self by their pain and death you're abusing the "pact" these animals made with our ancestors. You have no heart, no morals, no shame.

"Diane Jessup has authored many books and articles on the American pit bull, dog training and canine aggression. She has put over 70 training titles on her dogs over the past 35 years using postive methods. She has trained Pit Bulls for a variety of uses including herding, schutzhund, ring sport, obedience, tracking, weight pull, and narcotics/explosives detection."

I'm certainly more inclined to believe a known expert and recognized dog trainer working with the police than your shady bunch of "dogmen" (animal abusers who fancy them selves as victims).

Bottom line here is that Bamaman and Cajun gave you info that conflicts with your opinion and you're butt hurt now.............Bamaman and Cajun are correct, only one true way to test for gameness. Like it or not, it is a fact. Time to move on bro....

Don't get me wrong here I love the sport of hog hunting. This one of the few legal sports we can all enjoy with our dogs.I just think people need to understand that matching dogs and catching hogs are 2 very different sports..And you shoukd understand the difference or at least study and do some hands on and learn the difference.

  19. user316

    user316 Pup

Hogs are wild animals and pitbulls are domesticated ones. It's a sad fact of nature that wild animals, unless reduced in numbers by hunting overpopulate themselves, starve and suffer. So hunting, properly conducted is an act of mercy toward wild animals. Legal hunting has it's set of rules. It's not a criminal enterprise where 'anything goes' like dogfighting.

  20. bamaman

    bamaman GRCH Dog

You don't think thier are rules to matching dogs ? You think people just drop 2, dogs in a pit and let them fight? Matching dogs and catching hogs are 2 different sports .I mean why not open your mind and at least do some research on the subject.
