How fat is too fat and how skinny is too skinny for a 3 month old pup?
I've been feeding 2 cups a day with 1 fish oil cap per cup. She weighs 15 lbs now and not sure if I should start feeding more. It sure seems like she wants to eat more. [IMG][IMG]

Each pup is different, you just have to judge by what you see. You'll want a pup a little plump as they grow. I start to thin mine out around 10-12 months old and keep them that way.

Do you think she looks about where she should be in the pictures

At that age, yes. IMO that's exactly how I'd want my pup looking, not too fat but not too skinny.

..that..pup look's in fine condition....dog's will all-way's look for more...like gold-fish..lol..pup's in particular will eat every-thing in front of them...the biggest mistake ya can make is over-feeding,,the only reason it say's how many cup-full's on dogfeed pack's is the more you use the more you buy...so if you think he is getting to thin feed him a little more and vice versa if to fat..less...just make sure to worm him and get him checked now+then..should be fine...nice pup....

Yea she has tapeworms right now. The fist De worm didn't work cause I didn't know about them getting worms from fleas. I bought her with fleas. A whole bad situation. But I'm taking her back to the vet tomorrow to get 2nd round of shots and Dipped. Then De worm again end of the week.

Do the tapeworms eat up a lot of the calories or does it not matter much?

Most worm infestations will take from the host,,ie;..goodness from foods/etc/etc....as said she looks fine so after ya get her checked and wormed,,,ya can make a note ..say to worm her againn...in 4/6 months time...or as it grows ,,i just worm adult dogs twice a year...(pup's need a good worming the first 12 weeks) or if i think they need it if i notice worms in their stool's/etc....worm infestations in pups can be deadly to the extint the pup could die,,that ain't gonna happen to your pup,,as your doing the right thing,,your vet will tell the best times to worm from then on....g-luck,with..her

Turns out I was a retard. The vet gave me the worm meds. I thought they gave her the first dose...they didn't. I looked at the pack after two weeks when you're supposed to give second dose and there was still two doses in there. So you can luagh...goes to show you need to double check and don't take people's word as truth
