how come my puppy dosent like being touched?

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by tanstanding, Jan 12, 2014.

  1. I have a 8 month old purebred American PitBull, and it seems she hates being touched. Upon sitting on the couch and laying down for bed she moves away from being patted(moves to opposite end of bed\ couch). I love my dog, but its quite discouraging seeing how she does not like me patting her. Can anyone relate? And how would I go about getting her to like being touched?:confused:

As said before, some females are like that. Give it time and make sure you're being affectionate towards the dog (petting, talking nice, spending quality time) and the dog will come out of it. Good luck.

Take that dog everywhere you go and give her treats out of your hand and in a week she should show signs of improvement.

  6. I have a male that's not fond of being loved on or touched affectionately at all most of the time. He only does it when he initiates. Otherwise he'll move away if possible or huff and puff until you leave him alone.

  7. My year old female was the same way. I backed up and started petting her from outside of her kennel with a barrier between us and she's coming around better now. Still no where near as affectionate as my male but she lets me pet her in the kennel now.

  8. thanks everyone I've been trying to get within her good graces lol. Got alot if work, and quality time in the future

  9. Sometimes it depends on the environment that they are currently in. May be too much going on, t.v., music, noise and such. Does she act the same way outside? Either way, with time she may warm up, but she may not. Some are just introverts.
