We all kno it is a serious fault to breed or possess man biters...but to all you guys that have house dogs...If their happened to be a break in in your house..and your apbt encountered a stranger what do you think it would do...if your spouse or children were endangered would your dogs defend or just bark..just curious how many of you guys have any gamebred dogs that are also watch or guard dogs

lol you know you're from a small town when you see somebodys from the same town and you say "who is this" like you automatically assume you know them. lol It was just funny how it was worded, no disrespect to nobody. Just thought it was kind of funny, fkn city slicker like myself who's used to cities with millions, I just saw a humorous side to the comment that probably nobody will understand.

As far as the house dog, I can only speak for myself but I've only had bulldogs, no other breed. And I can almost guarantee (it's never happened so I'm assuming) that the dogs I've owned would easily understand the difference between a "threat" and somebody who wasn't a threat. And if it was a threat, my thoughts would probably be that the dog would probably bite. I've never had any of my house dogs for a "watch/guard" because I've had cameras/firearms/insurance to take care of those problems for quite a few years if any of those situations happened.

If one of mine was in the house n yo weren't supposed ti be there you might not make it out n I ain't get a problem with most man biters. Many a good bulldog would bite the shirt outta you. It's a bs fantasy dream to say that was ever a factor in how dog men of old bred performance dogs (for the most part) n people need to realize that. They aren't "nanny dogs", lol.

My girl loves people but she is definitely protective. She knows the difference between a threat and an innocent person, and between aggressive moments/vibes and non-aggressive ones. If someone wasn't supposed to be there she'd bark and at least wouldn't let them get by.

Well, I live alone and have two "house" bulldogs that are very leery of strangers. I'm fairly certain they would recognize the threat and let an intruder know that he has invaded not only my home, but their home as well LOL. I think they would at least give me the second I need to reach for my .45:) BTW, OFRN owner myself....and Lima has what, like 40,000 people? Not super small. I reside in NE IN.

The dog I have now is so stupid she'd probably bite ME.

I had a male a few ears ago that was way too nice. One night some guys shot at each other right on front of the house, and from then on he was a different dog. Anyone walking down the street got to see him up in the window barking at them.

I gave a pup to my grandparents that is the sweetest dog with them but they never socialized the animal so she doesn't really fuck with strangers at all god forbid someone tries breaking in that house.

Unfortunately that gyp is bred out the ass and I don't see them ever giving me that dog back.

One of my pure Sorrells dog is protective..He doesnt want any one to aproach him on the chain but me..But now if I got him on a leash he will lets kids and adults pet him as long as they dont have bad intentions..Scary moment for me we was walking one day and this jogger came up and passed us from behind. He went for his arm thankfully he missed...So I learned to walk him in more secluded areas..He was just being protective the guy was running and just out of no where passed us from behind..And he was way too close..Guy had some good moves as he juked a lil and my dog missed ,thankfully..I have another dog for the inside dog..That Sorrells dog not good for the house..But the one I got will dam sure resond if he thinks your a threat but other than that decent with strangers. If he dont like you he just wont come to you..Its funny for me to watch him pick the ones he wants to be buddies with.

  12. They don't make a better watchdog then a game bred pit. Most times they can sense who is the Pos among the so-called friend pool as well. When they're right in the end, you really take notice.

Back in the day, would have loved to lock the door behind on someone breaking into the homestead. The cleanup would have been quite a challenge though.

I'm pretty confident mine would protect myself or a family me ever against someone with bad intentions. I don't know about guarding the home. With no one around. He doesn't seem to have that instinct.

My lil miss geach bitch would fuck someone up if anyone ever ran up in here. Even when i let people in she will sit right next to me and eyeball fuck you the whole time and if you look at me or her she will growl at you. Many who have been here will attest to that.. lol

I get asked the question if they will bite and I only reply they got teeth don't they? I don't know if my dogs will bite someone but if you give them a reason, that's on you.

My response is usually it hasn't yet who knows. I personally would be more concerned my labs would bite a stranger than my bulldog .

This doesn't really prove much, but it's pretty funny:

I still think a dog knows what's really up, and senses that this guy isn't really there to do harm.

Well, I can't get the link to work, but if you youtube "will dog protect home" there's a lot of videos.

  20. Howdy Folks, I generally just lurk. I would like to share a story from my childhood.
A family friend had a dog in his home recovering from a long battle in the box. Deep game dog.
He and his family were out for the night. They came home to find their dog laying between the legs of a burglar at the base of the window he broke in through. The man was sitting in his own feces and urine, scared for his life. The dog never harmed him. He said that every time he tried to move the dog would growl and bury his muzzle in his crotch.
