In America if someone wants to learn everything about American game dogs he just goes to a old timer mentor to learn him all about the breed in uk it's different just would like to meet and become good friends with a experienced dog man in uk that we can learn from

 

there are no dogs there they are banned .

WOW its that easy huh? LMFAO!!! Nothing in these dogs is easy and im sure you finding a mentor on either side of the pond isnt as easy as you think.

 

If you are fortunate to find one, make sure you zip your mouth closed, listen to everything they share, and be observant as hell. Ask pertinent questions based on experience, but even if your logic disagrees, never question their decisions.

It's not a stupid question and you should continue to learn everything you can by any means at your disposal. They was just poking fun at you, don't take it to heart. Just because someone is in the US does not mean you can just walk up to an old timer here and they will just simply take you under their wing. Most shy away from people they do not already know personally. I never had a mentor per say and I do alright.


I do however have very well respected dogmen I can direct questions to that will help me if and when I need it. I learned most of what I know on my own, trial and error. The ones who really want to know will seek out and find the information they are looking for regardless of the obstacles put in front of them, as with anything in life.

That's if you're fortunate to have that person and the proper rapport. Can't be wet behind the ears and be questioning other peoples decision making process when you can't make an informed decision yourself.

Now to be honest, the best teacher is a dog you like that you have a good bond with, because if it's your first you might be lucky enough to find one that will go through the growing pains with you of being new to these dogs.

 

And if do find someone... The dogs they give u as gifts will be the best dog u ever own

I've got a bulldog had him since a pup he's now6 I've read a lot of books next 2 books I'm going to get are ed faren and the new bob Stevens one just finished reading mayfields rednecks but there's only so much you can learn from reading just wanted to start visiting dog men to learn more but I understand the way things are going at the moment it's hard to get trust I've only had bulldogs 6 years and I don't mind admitin I'm still learning
