You do have a point that I looked over, he lost me with the papers lineage reputable talk. I guess with all of the "can you guess my bloodline" questions, they all look the same if they sound similar. My bad.....anyways, there might be a pedigree website that you could use to do that, IDK? But as stated above, pen and paper would make the most sense to me.

  2. I was raised old school. I'm neither old nor knowledgeable. At least about the "game". Dealt with mainly coon hounds, and cur dogs growing up. Parents didn't allow any game dogs but I was interested. Back to my previous post stating I ran across something ppl would evidently would pay big money for, I wasn't referring to the dogs.

Cool reply dude... I therefore apologize for my sarcastic remarks to your question as I totally misunderstood the main point of what you were asking for (I didn't do to well at school lol). So hopefully I'm on the right track now and will attempt to reply in the same manner as before. The 'old school ' way is to form a strong relationship with any prospective owners . The 'new school' way would be to microchip and use GPS collars I guess. Either way it's reliant on the human factor for it to work as intended. That being said perhaps the most important question you should be asking yourself is...are my only 2 dogs really worth breeding... (of course I'm just assuming here that your keen on breeding strictly based on this thread but hey I've been wrong before lol).

Google pedigree generator or pedigree query and you can track your own save to yoyr desktop or print

  5. That idea is definitely in mind. I have yet to decide whether to go through with breeding or to obtain dogs worthy of breeding with pre-existing pedigree. Just doing my research before making a move. All advice is greatly appreciated.

Seems there was some confusion as to whether you wanted to find out the ancestors of your dogs, or know a way to keep anything on record that you may breed from them, going forward.
    It's simple, either way.

As far as your dogs' ancestors are concerned, you have to find the source of the breeding on each Just because the lineage of a dog has no database doesn't mean he is without lineage, and someone, somewhere back there knows. That doesn't mean you can find them. It means they are there......or were.

When the parents of a dog are unknown, you don't know how far back you must go to find the one who knows. You don't know how long it has been since lineage was known/recorded in some way. This is an endeavor which could take you a long time to accomplish, and could likely end up without any fruition at all.

If what you are looking for is a way to document whatever you may breed with these dogs, going forward, then there are basically two ways to do that. Registries, such as the ADBA will register a dog as UNKNOWN heritage, i.e. "Purebred but Unknown". Whatever you choose to register regarding the offspring of those unknown dogs, will be registered with your two dogs as the origin, the origin being UNKNOWN. Example: GR CH 35.
You'll see many dogs with a portion of their breedings, far behind them, being listed as unknown. This could mean there has been nothing submitted to that particular database, or that they were truly just unknown from that point and before.

If you intend to be truly honest as to their lineage being completely unknown, then the option here is to record them yourself, and let what flows through time speak for itself. What difference does it make if they are unknown on parchment, or if you're honest enough to say so, and document that yourself? The dogs will tell the story over time IF their qualities merit any ongoing lineage done with them.

These things become forgiven and forgotten when it is seen many, many generations back, and there have been many, many generations of worthy dogs thereafter and to the present. That would be YOUR many, many generations to live through and conduct as you see truly fit.

There are some pedigree tracking softwares out there. I ran a search on that a few months back. The best ones that track inbreeding coefficients and other data that are hard to track with pen and paper get pretty pricey though.

  10. Thanks everyone for all of the help. Okcdogman82 do you feel better now???
