What age do most bulldogs become DA? My bitch is 15 month now and luckily she hasn't shown any signs of dog aggression, today though someone's yappy poodle looked like it almost triggered her into an attack. I have a good bond/control over her though and stopped it with a command, I was hoping she was going to be fine with dogs but is this a common age to develope DA? Thanks in advance for any replys

Have you owned many dogs before ///??????there is no way of saying your dog will ever be aggressive,,un-less you want to encourge it,????,,or it may become so in the situation like protecting you/r/others...if you keep her ok with most dogs and she senses you are ok with them, she won't see them as a threat,,in saying that some dogs are just da..from an early age..that include's all types+breeds...some will get into a bit of trouble and after that day, they just go da;from then.on...there all different..............so it might happen,, it might not.......there jus dogs....the only difference,, is if they do you should be able to take control...and if people can't then maybe they should not have a dog...ps:i'm not saying you are/r/can't.............?????????????????????????

Cheers for the reply, Ive owned many dogs, mostly bull breeds just not a bulldog before, I know she could become DA at any age but I was just asking opinions of when other peoples dogs gained there dislike of other dogs, I wasn't asking for a definitive answer, cheers, ox

It all varies ox, I've had some at a early age and then some a little later. All depends on the dog.

It varies for sure . I found you can some times remember what trigged it & then your dog is different then it was the day before
    There personalities vary
I had a male once turned on at early age and his personality was simple ,your on my side or not .
if your not , big - small - male - female - we have a problem.

Some can be on But seem to not bother with small annoying dogs or barkie Curs
There on - just the same
    --------------
Get past the ON thing - cause the term has no use for Pits as pets - SEE it's so nice to be all hopeful and innocent like you, a Pit owner of 15 months .
If your gonna take chances off lead BETTER have a muzzle ON .
Come on now there not meek dogs , At best there like a mirror - one day your dog will reflect what she sees before you see it & she will be on it

You say " she's been great, hope it stays that way "

    Hope - HOPE - WHAT . ... ?
listen - what you are Hoping for - , I'll tell you - your hoping for the imposable
your gonna get caught out there .
I made too many mistakes , when I see that familiar cavalier attitude I AM ON IT.
    it's my duty , it's what I owe the breed .

WAKE UP, YOU HAVE A DOG DESCENDED FROM DOGS USED IN A HARSH GAME
I can't be any more serious

    muzzle ON .

Thanks a lot for the advice but honestly there is no need for the condescending attitude that comes with it, I know its because you love the breed but I'm just looking for other people with more experience to learn from that's all, I'm not a kid wanting a status symbol of a dog so I will take advice on board and use it, thanks again

I dont have much experience but I will give you my opinion lol.

Never Trust ANY dog NOT to fight or bite, as that is a NATURAL instinct in all animals.

There is NO specific age at which a Bulldog becomes aggressive it all pertains to the individual and or certain circumstances that can trigger it and like I said above this can pertain to all animals as well.

For those naive people that dont know that there are many many dog bites going on every day by other breeds of dogs the only reason why you dont readily hear about them is because unless its a pitbull or a serious fatel attack it is not reported or covered in the general news media.

The most common excuse owners of different breeds of dogs use when there dog bites anyone is Oh my dog never bit anyone before or my dog would never ever hurt a fly, or my dog has never shown any aggression ever before LMAO.

No matter how domesticated you think your animal might be never forget that he is STILL AN ANIMAL that FOLLOWS BASIC ANIMAL INSTINCTS/TRAITS.

I would not want to seem as having a
condescending attitude. For sure it's based on your question of - Turning on & off lead .
You do have a concern and wonderment of the turning on deal.
    Well it's real
A dog named - Dibo one of the best turned on at 4 plus

A simple story is my first little SBT dog 1989 off lead during jogs and beach walks never a problem played with dogs .What a time I had during the innocent days .

One day she was about 4 years and had her on leash in a pet store in Brooklyn NY
    Flatbush ave.
This guy ( the owner) was big into APBT , any way I was visiting with dog on leash and another pit was there on leash - the womans female pit made a charge at my dog with some sound & sure enough my female went the same,
took me by surprise as never saw it once before.

Well I did not know it yet
but that moment my female was ON from that day forward. I learned the hard way
& the truth of no contact with dogs on the beach became my reality .

I did get her a APBT puppy as a friend
and as male and female they managed but she was no loving sweetly to him.

    But don't take me as
    condescending ,thats not my way.
But by Jibberdee this I know

...ox you know your dog better than any-body else here,,,if she is fine with other dogs when your out, chances are she will be ok 90% or more most of the time,,but as sg said never trust a dog no matter the breed not to get into a skufle now+then...some-times these type of dogs(any-breed) when they get into it bad, they will be da,most of the time from then on.,others won't..you say ya had bull breeds be-fore,,,well then she will be no difference,,cause,,, she is jus a dog ,,also,,,,,,,,,,,,,no matter where she came from....good luck with her...

Having the dog off lead and you hoping for something not to happen is kind of contradicting wouldn't you say? It's up to you to prolong that to an extent by having physical control. Once it goes will most likely go again and again.

Here is a personal experience back from like 1993 before I got my first bullbreed.
I was mountain biking in a provincial park with my buddy and his mature male dog, the sire of my future dogs. The sire was not full on da but was a very confident dog.

We were young and brash. We were flying down a wide trail that came to a cross road of another wide trail. Higher pedestrian traffic.
We went through and passed some people walking with a gsd type dog. Cujo was about 30feet behind us and we looked back and the gsd was confronting him to cut him off. We said oh oh. Cujo T boned the gsd like a freight train with his chest and it went down in a cloud of dust. We turned back and Cujo was standing over it waiting to see if it was game. Nope. We left.

Just a memory of something that could have went bad by being off leash.

Cujo sounds like the perfect dog . He knew his power and let a cur dog have a free pass.
