I have a Subaru with 24k miles. I got a double puncture in the tire from a heavy duty fence nail/staple. Because the nail left two holes about 1/2 inch apart, Firestone told me it can't be safely repaired. This means I just had to buy 4 new tires since my car is all-wheel drive for $670.00.

I am hoping I didn't get tricked as far as the tire not being repairable.

Over here (uk) you could have just had a tube put in.Depending on the size of the hole they'll plug a tyre here.should have put the spare tyre on and shopped around.Fuck buying four new tyres (unless the tyres were past their sell by date) should of just asked for one.

In the USA tires and batteries have went sky high.2 wholes that close together I think u did right..And I never use plugs always a patch. Not sure about the price you paid for the tires. But like I said tires and car and truck batteries have went up alot.

I think it could have been patched just because firestone doesn't do it other shops might. You could have just got a pair instead of 4 but hey at least u feel safer.

Yea apparently with all wheel drive you have to replace all 4 at a time. I should have checked around though.

You probably could have got it patched at a different shop. Some places will do it while others will not.

I hope u kept the tires. U can have a boot put in it and never worry about it. I have stuck bridge spikes big as my finger in tires. Put a boot in it and run it till the tread was gone.

Never go to a brand store, they will give the best advise they can so they can sell you more ;)
I've worked on tires and depending on how big it would have been we would have patched it up.
Like oldtymer said just get 1, we did that many times, balance the new wheel then outline the car again and your off

To close for plugging just patch it if you still have it and it'll do for a spare.
