Need opinions, maybe just reassurance

  1. I have a almost two year old am staff, I keep her pretty lean, I feed her a lowered serving of feed compared to most dogs, and give her raw once a week. She "works out" a lot during the week and on the weekends we chill out. I walk her a few miles a week, and she loves jumping so I throw the ball for her about an hour a day or whenever she feels the need to stop. She weighs 45 lbs and 1 1/2 year old. Everybody in this community have dogs that are over weight badly, some not as bad as others. I think my dog is very fit and healthy, I'm going to be uPloading pictures so u can see for your self.

  2. Opinion I am looking for, is, what's your honest opinion on her? Excuse the patch on her ass end, she has flea bite allergies. Other than keeping her inside during flea season and flea meds how can I prevent the bites? I'll be posting a picture in a little while.

Some-times a-lot skin issues can be caused by a-lot off things food alleriges, some foods are'nt good for your dog etc;could be the flea bites, start useing spot on.flea kill...best of luck with your dog.....

  6. I use Spot On actually, i pretty sure it's not a food allergy. Due to the itchiness subsiding after time being kept inside, and she's always done well on lamb and rice kibble, her hind end is itch free, and fur is growing in.

Anyways, idk what you can gather from this shitty picture, because i don't have another person helping me photograph her pull flexing. This is a photo of her reaching, and i got a little flex out of her.

Do you think she is in good weight? before joining, this website was my key and information for conditioning a dog. The BF is appalled and thinks she is skin and bones. LOL. almost to the point where i'm questioning if she is or not. So i asked him, when he goes to the gym would he like any extra fat to stay after the work out transformation is all done with? That gave him his answer, but my mom even mentions that she too skinny. They also don't ever seen her flex either, so maybe that's why??

From that pic id say your dog is in no way "too skinny". We live in a messed up world. Just imagine, if your dog was in peak condition, your boyfriend would probably call animal control, lol!

  9. Thank for the input!! And I've noticed te messed up world untangling around me, pretty sad! I found a picture of a popular conditioned dog on here, and shared it with a FB group I'm apart of for pitbulls. I got two comments on it, compared to the 50 comments I would of gotten posting a picture of a show staffy.

  10. I informed them that although it's more popular in other countries, some people in te US also condition their dogs as a human would it's fitness health. They were puzzled by the picture but a few members use bully max, does te same as the supplement only in a more natural way.

Most americans have overweight animals. I've always called it "loving their pets to DEATH". The majority of the public sees a lean dog as emaciated. They're wrong but many will view a lean dog as such. They just dont know any better. Your dog doesn't look too skinny at all in my opinion.

I agree with the agk, your dog looks fit and toned. I like to see a hint ,outline of the ribs and the stomach with a tuck. God forbide people see your dog in public looking fit and trim. If they see some ribs you will here " YOUR DOG IS TO SKINNY, FEED HIM ". I have read several articles a dog can live an extra 20 percent longer when maintaiining a healthy weight. I wish you and your buddy manny happy, healthy years together!!!!

  14. AGK, most Americans have weight problems in all aspects of life. LOL. We've had to do our work out indoors because of te flea rise in my area. So it's been a hectic house, I'm third shift stay at home mom, so there's always sound of an elephant jumping up here LOL! She can almost do a full back flip, I think she can eventually do one though, she jumps high and rolls her body around, lands on all four like a cat.

Labs get SOOOOO fat!! My tattooist's dog Kylie. Rash of her foot he told me the vet told him separation anxiety....

  16. She's 7 I think

  17. It's not so much that Labs get fat as much as the owners don't seem to know or care that their dogs are so severely overweight. I've seen quite a few good, toned field Labs that put most pet Labs to shame.. Although the same would be said for an APBT vs. your average Pet Bull whose owners are blind and ignorant.

BTW, your girl does look good, I agree. You'll come across many naysayers. It's the burden of being a good owner ;)

She looks like she's in great shape. You'll never hear the end of it unless your dog is a sausage with legs. For some reason it's ok to tell someone their dog is too skinny, but tell someone their dog is too fat and you're rude.

You'll even get comments from more educated owners who have healthy weight dogs. Part of it is that most common breeds have longer fur, so even a healthy toned lab isn't going to show muscle structure the same way an am staff will.
