Bitch in heat; you don't want to breed this cycle - male going crazy

What do you do when your dogs are all inside dogs, and a male is going crazy to breed a bitch that is in heat, but he won't be allowed to breed her? In this case I usually place the male with a friend from 1 week to 3 weeks of the heat cycle, which is usually the window of him wanting to breed her. But if you can't place the male, what do you do? Males will howl and carry on, and I think it stresses them. Is there any remedy to sooth a dog while the bitch gets through the cycle? I envy people with land and easier ways to keep dogs at a distance from one another.

 

Nope ...none that I know of..just has to run its course.

 

If i was in a cage and some hottie was flirting an flashing tits and ass at me I think I would be stressed too now that I think about it. In all seriousness you cant give him some benedryl to calm his nervs?

 

I would be open to trying benadryl for its sedative properties. I was also advised that Vicks Vaper Rub around the male's nose could help distract him from the scent. I have kept him crated in a room away from the girl, but once a male gets the scent, he still goes wild.

I keep all 5 dogs in the house 2 males 3 females with no problems when the girls come into heat I move them around the house they are crated and I use the chlorophyll to mask the scent it works. You can use the benedryl in addition to the chlorophyll but I don't the chlorophyll does the trick.

 

Here is a pic of my intact male sleeping with one of my bitches in heat I don't leave them alone and when I leave they are crated in seprate rooms but I have always liked the chlorophyll.

Lol Yes they are some very well mannered dogs for sure .. That picture cracks me up .... Even still my males get moved upstairs to the other bedroom when I leave the females are down stairs crated. I never leave them in a room alone with any female in heat .... I really don't think it matters if they are in doors or outdoors as long as you have them seperated crates need to be in other rooms because dogs do and can get out of crates especially to get to a female in heat.

 

I know of several people who use the chlorophyll with great success. I haven't had a problem with males and in heat females in the house. Might howl a little around the right time but only when they are ready to breed. And our females never go outside without being on a leash or in a secured lot with us with them. Because you never know what stray male they may attract.

 

Yep common sense goes along way and chlorophyll works!

I know I would have issues if I was laying next to a horny bitch in heat just waiting for me, and I am just waiting for my master to leave the room just for one minute. But then, instead of leaving the room, she grabs me and throws me in a crate in some other room. That is just cruel!! LMAO!

 

So what no humping for bogart and he knows it too ... When I am in the room he knows he is not allowed to even think about humping lol... That boy knows better lol ..

 

Interesting - will look into this before next heat cycle.
