I'm a little skeptical on that one, I know they do good at it but I don't really believe in turning these dogs on to people. Seems like a real bad idea to me. Not knocking anyone who does it with their dogs just don't see anything positive coming from it.

 

I second that opinion, i was just throwing it out there. I believe hunting hogs is the closest thing we can legally depend on. Since everyone doesn't have a time machine to fly back to 1975 every weekend

I believe that many of us that are drawn to this breed can more than relate to the characteristics these dogs possess. Some straight up blunt(not a gar Cajun), tell you to your face, might kick your ass in real life type of people. You got to appreciate those that speak their mind and tell it like it is. I read and followed with this site for almost a year before I started posting and inquiring about topics of interest. Many of people have come on here and shown little, if any, true knowledge about the breed and bring up a breeding in the same paragraph. This is where the long term advocates of the breed that have dedicated themselves to truly bettering it get pissed as they should.


I think some people shouldn't breed themselves let alone these dogs. So much responsibility when trying to jump into a logical breeders shoes. Time, money, space, placing the dogs and the possibility of dogs being returned for what ever reason are a few of the many things to consider.

Lmao 305, I actually have 5 right now! Some nice headband and black rhino as well!! I believe that in general people think that breeding dogs is easy and that you will profit from selling pups. It ain't as easy as some would believe it to be and you ain't gonna get rich.

I did not say I wanted to breed APBT's anytime soon and I certainly did not say I knew all about the breed. I grew around Colby Dogs my entire life and my father did as well.

 

I wanted to get my boy into pulling. Wasn't sure where to go for it. It looks really kewl!

 

Get you a pull harness and weight sled and start in your back yard. Whatever you want to do you have to first practice on your own. If you wanted to start doing something you'd practice first, same applies for a dog

Of course! I stand corrected....

 

Since we moved into this property I had him pulling with a regular harness and a radio flyer wagon with cinder blocks in it but he broke through one harness already. I will go online and find him a pull harness as there is nowhere around here to get one. I will look for a sled too! He liked doing it for the few days he did it. I see on the schedule of events there are contests as well!

 

Thanks I will look into it. I need to get him hunting. That is what he really loves. When we lived up near the forest we went more often. He is a good gun dog. Doesn't spook. I started him duck hunting as a pup and then boar hunting along with some friends dogs when he got bigger. My girl I haven't tried hunting with yet.
