mixing raw w kibble. trying to change feed

    I feed my dog molly 3 cups of taste of the wild a day. shes 55lbs. If i wanted to add things such as veggies, raw meats, or egg should i remove 1 cup of feed for a cup of the normal food? im starting a little keep this week for my 1st time and trying to lean her out a little.what do you think about mixing raw food w kibble? sometimes i read its good, sometimes bad. thoughts?

    the only issue that may be a problem is digestive rates. The food and work should be spaced out so as the dog is not working on a full stomach. The dog should be emptied out prior to work. As for daily feed and maintenance there are no real issues with mixing the two. I think mixing the two works really well for nothing more than the convenience. I believe RAW is the better of the two but RAW is really inconvenient, especially when dealing with multiple dogs.
    As far as the amount, like any food, it should be adjusted as to the needs of the dog. If she is lean and fit at 55lbs then if you add on you should more than likely take a little of the other. If she is 55lbs and overweight if you add one you should take a little more of the other away.
    Once you get into the work the feed amount will normally increase to fuel the dog. If he is working and losing weight it is nothing wrong with feeding more. It will be a trial and error method as every dog is different and there is no conversion factor that says 1 cup of dry food equals XXX amount of raw food. Start the work and adjust as necessary til she is where you want her to be. Get her where you would like her to be without using a number as a guide (55lbs is just a number...get her to where you think she should be and then weigh her) 55 can be a guide after you get her where you want, then you can use the scales to make feed and exercise adjustments.     Aczackly minns the raw meat. mixs it in with the Soakt kibble(+- 30/45 min) and your fine. its been done bij Greyhound Racers/trainers who like to ad there own protien sours for decades..

    One thing to realize is that with an already balanced base feed, anything you add to the point it is over 15% of the total volume of feed, can throw the feed out of balance for ingestion and assimilation into the system.
    In other words: If what you add to your base feed, comes to more than 15% of the total volume after you have added it, it can do such. Balance is important, so watch your p's n q's if you are intending to supplement with anything, including straight raw.

    Correct . There ARE special feeds where you can ore MUST feed your own protien sours like Gain 20 ore Red mills Tracker. Gain has a food DIET calculator (chek link) scroll douwn http://www.greenriverworkingdogsupplies.nl/gain-record-breaker you can play with it in order to complealy balance the diet you have in mind.
    When you ad a sirtin amound of meat and lets say veggies and sardiens(fish) it wil calculate the other ingriedienses bij weight to ad. To balansh it. as you can see the chooices of the diferend meats give a diferend out come

    I on one hand, prefer to feed the full dosage of better, rather than only 50%. I'd just be conflicting things and not benefiting 100% and that's personally not my way to go with diets. So it's not about just making sure that digestive issues aren't a problem for me therefore. It's about fully benefiting from the better diet overall if given the choice.

    I do wat the sled dog people they put like a type ground beef or animale venison then soak in warm water and put dog food so it makes like a slop they are feeding 20 to almost 100 dogs a day.

    After your dogs have been on kibble, & raw for some time...then you can try a variety of raw meats, & bones with kibble, I've been doing this for quite a few years now with no issues!
    Keep an eye out for various quality meats, from various sources...don't be afraid to experiment, & find what works for you, & your dogs as everyday is a learning process!

    This video here will give you a pretty good idea on what variety is...its worth a watch!!!

    I like thats what i do i put warm water in a bucket throw some ground beef and deer vension or rabbit and dog food and makes a slop and my dogs love it
