I am wondering if any one has run into this b4, Bitch is well nothing really wrong with her aside from a small skin (hair) condition and that was on account of feed and has cleared up all of a sudden she started vomiting once every a wk then twice then every other day and now its a daily routine and some times twice (all in a months time or so) The dog is not lethargic, not dehydrated, full of spunk (no pun intended) but just every so often during the day stops looks at me and within 10-15 seconds seems to have her insides being squeezed out.
Had a Vet visit set for yesterday but that was cancelled (lol some body shot the Vet assistant etc...but will be open today) I just wanted to hear from a few others if they have ever encountered something like this b4.

I've had a dog in the past get his intestines so twisted he died on the O.R. table and U would have never known he was sick at all, (this is why Im a little worried again cause these dogs show no signs some times)

I have already been to the vet twice, (Blood tests are more or less normal for a 6 yr old dog just about) and she isn't dehydrating either, aside from maybe having lost a cpl of lbs. U would never know she was not well.
They are thinking diabetes and that's a first for me. (They said a few things they have to look into now that the bloods are all well) but they also don't think its any type of blockage cause she isn't throwing back up her feed like I said just bile, originally it seemed like saliva, a palm full of clear fluids, Now its turned to a yellowish (Bile) color and they also have made me cut her feed to 2 times a day because they are thinking it also can be something acidic and maybe the food is irritating her stomach linings etc and she is throwing up, 2 days now she is getting fed twice a day but she is still vomiting once a day still. She does give me ample warning also as I get to see her jump up where she is at the time and look at me as if "Its coming" and I just hold her gently while she vomits (I am throwing away daily 14 x 26 under-pads) on a pq. AKA under-pad.
Hopefully this will be resolved real soon.

how much are you feeding and why 2 times a day ?

  6. Any help w/vomiting will be appreciated...

Are you feeding on a relatively strict schedule? Is she vomiting near the time of a feeding?

might be something to do with the feed and her body's reaction to it.... why are you feeding her twice? maybe move it to once a day.

nah, i'd recommend feeding 2x a day, especially if bile is present. (empty stomach=not good). j/c has her liver and/or gall bladder been checked? maybe one or the other is not functioning properly...if you can rule these out, then

have you tried any OTC antacid meds? may be something worth tryingto see if that helps

Re: Any help w/vomiting will be appreciated...

Reason Im feeding her 2 times a day now is the vet asked me to split her feed into 2 shots a day as he thinks it may be an acidic issues and that's why she is bringing up the bile like I said no food (keeble) is coming up just this water like bile (which is yellow now) she is much more thirsty than norm and she pisses much longer than usual. Im lucky I kept the dog at my place (as I was waiting for her to come into heat and did not want to miss it...which I have now lol) so I got to see her vomiting as it would have been almost impossible to have seen it at the farm (yard) cause U don't see it when it hits the ground... and its not like she is losing weight really or dehydrated

have her stomach scanned to check for a block in the small intestine - I had one that did similar things and it's too bad I had to get the results through an autopsy report

sounds like acid but you will never know unless you go to the vet .

Ok i think im repeating myself,

i have gone to the vet from the get go

i was told to cut her feed in half (feed 2 times a day instead of it all one shot)blood test all came back fine.

They think it may be acidic build up as she is also close to 6 yrs old (over 5) and they start getting issues with their stomachs (some dogs)

so i was just checking to see if any one else may have experienced the same problem before or knows of anyone with such a dilemma and how they my have dealt with it.

Thanks for all the (help) input & replies thus far.

i asked because years ago i had a bitch who would throw up bile. i gave ger OTC medicine (pretty sure it was tagamet, but not certain) and i made sure to feed her 2x a day so her stomach would not remain empty for extended periods of time. both things seems to help.
if your dog is drinking more it makes sense she's going to pee longer.

Im not sure what it could have been ...but I don't want to jump the gun as its only been a day or two now that she has not vomited.
I WAS SAYING IM NOT SURE IF ITS THE ANTIBIOTICS AND THE 2 FEEDS A DAY, OR EITHER ONE OR BOTH TOGETHER ETC...
For now it seems all is well, she hasn't she has not regurgitated anything nor has she cackling like she has knl cough I think she was just eating way too fast and it was effecting her stomach walls ...Only time will tell.
Thanks for all the input & PMS...

are you feeding her wet? i've had some dogs regurge randomly in the past on a regular basis. feeding their kibble full of water fixed it. might want to give it a try if you're not doing this already. feeding water with the kibble is a good idea anyway just for general health. what food do you feed?

I've seen pancreatitis do exactly what you describe. There are meds to control the enzyme action and assimilation of feeds. You might ask your vet if such a malady is possibly the case. Just a thought. The most popular for such used to be viocase. I'm sure there are more and maybe even better by now but it can't hurt to suggest such possibility to your vet. Good luck

I had this happen when I switched over to raw ( the regurgitating yellow bile) but that was because raw digests much faster than kibble and I only feed once a day eventually it went away the regurgitating and the yellow bible usually indicates that the stomach is on empty that is why no food is coming up it could also signal gastritis or could come from the dog eating too fast. I noticed you mentioned urinating more but if she was in heat at the time that could be the cause for that. Eating too fast can def cause regurgitating and the yellow bile. I had one dog with an obstruction but the symptoms I saw were very different she didn't pass any stool even though she would try and she was vomiting and her vomit smelled of feces and she was in a lot pain lathargic could hardly walk and would vomit back up her entire meal about 45 minutes after eating these symptoms came on rapidly. Usually with a blockage though once vomiting occurs you only have but so long to remove the blockage before the dog eventually dies and it's a quick death they will eventually refuse food and water as well. Luckily in my case she didn't need surgery she ended up passing the blockage on her own I acted quickly though because I knew the symptoms were consistent with a blockage.
