would you rather get a dog "pure" of one line or a 50/50 cross and why

with a pure dog to its always lacking something from the inbreeding' but its different if you line breeding the blood. with 50/50 cross you always crossing what the other dog lacking. like a blood line that have a lot of mouth and no gameness, you find another blood that is lacking that but have gameness and some what mouth.

if you want a working dog, 50/50 this will give you vigour.
if you want breeding stock etc, go the line bred, provided it has what you want.
    just my opinion.......

  8. For me wether a dog is pure or not makes little difference and the generalized statements about each are made by what I call paper breeders.
If someone were to ask me I would tell them to look at the dog itself and forget the papers. You want to breed to a dog that breeds true and consistent traits that are passed onto the offspring, since the idea is to "reproduce" that dog. You want to also look at the other dogs related to it to see that those traits are reproduced consistently by them as well, so that the dog in question is not an exception because exceptions rarely breed consistently. And most of all, you want to see that the percentage of competitive dogs in the litters is high, to reduce the time and money you have to waste on culls.
I would stay clear of anything that does not show game, no matter what other traits it may possess.
I have had both "pure" and crossed and found the generalized statements about them to be false fantasies made by those who want to sell you something.

i prefer to maintain the same family of dogs & keep the genetic variation as low as possible. even if there " out crossed" they will still be inbred over the corse of time on our yard. if a fella is breeding from there own stock well then your going to be inbreeding.

Feeding a family is great until it start taking a beating.....then all you got is a high losing % of bullyson dogs.
