there is an area of your property, if not all your property that is called curtalidge. This is your property that they cannot come onto without your permission, if it is common for someone to knock on your front door where you live, they are allowed to do that, but, they cannot look in your windows, over you fence, or walk in your backyard. If there is an area that is woods and is still your property and no bldg or dwelling sits on it, then they can come on that and view your property from there if it is an area of property that you use for nothing. This is excersising your constitutional rights.

  6. ur kiddin right? animal control officers don't realize that breaking sticks are NECESSARY for any pit owner... all they see is fighting paraphenalia... heaven forbid ur dogs have scars also, as Mia mentioned when they asked why her dogs had them...

Sorry to hear that you had to go through that Mia. I just noticed that there is a bulldog in my area that looks damn close to my male and thought to myself I hope that dog don't get into trouble because I know they will think it is mine. Good Luck to you and I hope this was a one time thing for you.

I don't know why to be honest. I panicked & wanted to prove to them that the dog in question wasn't one of mine. I don't know, at that moment in time it seemed to be the right thing to do.

I do have pictures of our hog hunting excursions so I would hope if something arises that would suffice. I've also made some phone calls & talked to my close friends in the animal control & law enforcement fields & none of them seem to think anything would come of it. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Also, they caught Belle today. In a way I feel sorry for the dog to have been forced to live a life in which she was constantly afraid (she was an extremely fear aggressive dog) & also have an imbecile for an owner. She will be humanely euthanized tomorrow. 9 yrs old..........it's a damn shame.

You didn't have to let them in, that's your rights. They cannot pass your door step without your permission. If they ever come back, do meet them outside, because they have already seen all they needed to. You can have all you want on your property, as long as, you are not breaking the law. Hopefully, they saw all they needed to, and won't bother you again. Good luck to you & your dogs!

If she hadn't let them in, they might have caused a lot of trouble for her...maybe arrested her or taken the dog...or all of them.
I've been through the "mistaken identity" thing too many times. Fingers automatically point my way any time a bull-type dog is seen running loose in my area. You can bet I call AC whenever I see one, just to tell them it isn't mine.
I don't even answer my door any more. Sometimes they'll leave a citation, which I promptly toss in the garbage. I have security cameras to account for my dogs at all times.

bingo on the security camera---if you can afford them, get them . . . for SO many reasons . . .

They can and they will if they're trying to create a case. If you have law enforcement that doesn't understand the breed, this all looks like "evidence" to them.

Heck, there are other pitbull forums that think breaking sticks are for fighting only . . .

It is sad that a child was harmed, that a dog was put down, and that Mia had to go through all of this. It comes down to two things: irresponsible owers and crazy law enforcement. I understand that most people are not educated properly about Bully breeds; but if you are not you SHOULD NOT OWN ONE! Good people get punished for stupid people's actions. I take great care of my two boys. But since irresponsible owners can't take proper care of their pets, people like Mia have to pay the price. That is bull sh!t! So sorry for you Mia. Stay strong...all of you. We must fight this together to keep our dogs!
