a six foot lead and a good pair of shoes is pretty hard to beat...if he is walking casually beside you and there is no tension on the lead...the amount of time and distance can be drastic....if he has the lead pulled tight and dragging you then the time and distance will decrease for the same level of conditioning....if he will drag about 10%-15% of his body weight behind him...the time and distance will decrease in compared to the casual walk....bicycling will do more....flirt pole is great for the stop and start explosive movements.....as much as i like my carpet mill it is definately not the end all-be all of conditioning...US1

Flirt, chain dragging, biking. Something I did yesterday that turned out to be real cool was doing stairs (up and down = 1 set) for 2 sets of 20 with a small break in between. He just followed me with a weighted collar on. He got a good workout...me too...and he really liked it.

  7. thank for the advice folks

I'm gOnna try the bike thing out once I get my hands on one
And in the mean time we will work the stairs

Funny thing about the stairs is when we tried it a few months back with no lead
It turned into a game of catch me if you can lol

What about tossing a ball in a field. I have one of those "chuck it" sticks i'll toss a tennis ball for 20 mins to wear the dog out. Of course your dog has to want to give it back. If you live near the woods an uphill hike off leash is good too.

    If your playing fetch use
more than one ball that way you can keep it moving

Hope you're not trying to be sarcastic because if so please tell me which one of the exercises posted in this thread was created this year.
