Paper hanging WTF

The whole idea of purebred dogs and pedigrees is to be able to IMPROVE the breed. Accurate pedigrees, kept for generations, are a HUGE research resource on what works and what doesn't. I don't see this kind of paper-hanging controversy in say, Thoroughbred pedigrees. They are greatly revered and meticulously kept and heavily studied to see patterns to take on into the future -- which sires nick with daughters of another sire? Which stallion produces broodmares that produce? Which stallion is a sire of sires? There are hundreds of volumes written on such things in those horses..

I dunno -- mostly what it tells me is that individual dogmen aren't so much interested in improving the breed, but only in "getting THEIRS" and the hell with who may come after them.

Very regrettable.

yeah but it a small % of pepole that are Competing in a pro level .I see no true reason or excuse for it other than someone being a di** where the integrity and honor in ones work once you burn too many people you fack your name up not to mention what happens when you fack the wrong person over you bring problems on yourself over a few hundred dollars

 

I think people paper hang to get a trait or gene tht their dogs dnt have so they can get up to par with the competitors

 

what that dont make sence you dont hang papers to get any traits or genes lol thats the whole point if a dog has hung papers know one knows his genes

Thats nice, in a perfect world. But we don't live in one. Right now, A dogs pedigree is only as good as the breeder keeping track. Its just a piece of paper that should have been a useful tool. But it isn't.

lets say tom G trew some redboy dogs into the mix but on paper the still down as chinamen frisco dogs and he did that to put the gameness into his dogs without putting some1 else name in his pedigrees..

 

:-) HAHA I was just reading this post laughing to myself. Some people said "stick with people you know and trust." IDK what world ya'll live in, but I have seen people screw over their "main man" for the right price and under the right circumstances. It use to surprise me but not it just taught me if they will do it to those they call friends, they will do it to me and anyone else.

There is no way to stop paper hanging, so just behonest with yourself about what you see in front of you.

 

IDK what kind of people you hang with if you see bullshit like that. There are still some out there that are and always will be true to their word.

I agree with you all but like Peon said they are out there. Thats the only kind of people to hang with. Thats how an over populated world can be a lonely place. lol

 

If the whole dog game were legal, market forces would highly discourage paper hanging just like it does with horses. But, since much of the dog game is forced underground by ignorant laws, information about the dogs is harder to come by and paper hanging is easier to get away with.

 

You gotta cull through all the crap...which goes for those you surround yourself with also.

 

Honestly i wonder what kind of people you hang with that you live in this fantasy world where there are honest people out there. When dealing in any business there will be dishonest people around, and they are the majority. Some are excellent at what they do and you don't realize you have been lied to until years later. NO ONE says "hey ima go buy a pup from this paper hanger"

The only way you can find out if someone can be trusted is to trust them in certain situations and see how they do. You can get lied to by someone you have know and called a friend for 20 years. At the end of the day be honest with yourself and you will get much further. Although you may THINK you have this honest set of friends that can do no wrong, when the rent is due and there are mouths to feed, some people will do things that are not that honest when it comes to these dogs. Not everyone, but a lot of people.

 

I don't know there are plenty of people who are dirty and will sell out their friends in a heart beat for financial gain or to save their own asses BUT IMO anyone who would do that was never really your friend to begin with. Anytime you are dealing with money and people you will have greed but not everyone sells out their friends for the right price or in desperate situations some people are good and honest people who will go to jail before they snitch out one of their friends or cheat them out of some money they are rare but they are out there.There is a reason why true friends are hard to come by and why you should always keep your enemies close to you. I always watch what people do you can learn a lot by just watching people can say anything they want it's what they do that shows you who they really are.

This is why I have no friends! I can't trust anyone buy my family and Husband. He's the same way. He's seen how people are quick to betray you. So he doesn't have friends either. And its not because we can't make them; but because we cannot trust them.
