I have noticed over the years that it seems like so many people are stuck on inbreeding the dogs and showing off how "well" they are bred. What ever happened to the breeding a bulldog to a bulldog days? I understand that line breeding and some inbreeding can produce the trait your after at times but when is enough a enough? I have some great dogs on the yard and they are pretty much all "great" bred dogs and do everything i could ask for in a bulldog. I have just bred my top 2 bitch's to a complete provine out cross. Ive yet to ever see this breeding done before but knowing that they are all tested bulldogs then i feel as if i have a great chance of it working. I came across a "well" bred stud dog that really caught my interest and figured why not. I have told just a few people what i did and only one agreeded to the breeding and thought the same way i did while the others asked why i didnt take them to these "well" breed studs like the bitches. How do yall feel about the paper wars today? If a dog has "joe Blow" in it 45 times and mine only has it in it 1 time is his dog better than mine?

no not necesarily, i would say the only time to in/line breed is when you have access to see not only the specimen in question but also have access to see the parents, grandparents, aunts uncles ect. if you like the style/traits of the family in general then i would selectively line breed for those traits. if your dog possess them traits, and so does his parents, grandparents ect, then chances are theyre going to throw that trait pretty heavily.

if i got a nice tight bred dog bred off good stuff then ill take the nicely bred dog. as opposed to the scatterbred bulldog. sure the the looser dog may be a helluva dog, but who knows if he'll produce it or not.
if im workin with a nicely bred bred dog then chances are i seen relatives of that dog and halfway know what to expect.

i wouldnt say its the better dog necessarily, just the better choice lol

not for nothing TB. but wasn't you after "inbred" dogs not too long ago lol. "when is enough a enough" easy that's when they come out looking like kangoroo's & loose quality the foundation had. over the long run that's exactly what i want " joe blow" as much as possible then add my name as much as possible till my name goes 4 gentleman deep. the truth is folks more offten then not don't understand the data they get from a ped. or fail to understand how to use the data they get from a ped.

"more often than not folks dont understand the data they get from a ped"

Well wouldnt folks need too see or atleast know of them dogs in the ped in order to know how to use it anyway?

To set traits, inbreeding is a very good tool. If you don't know what you're doing, you could do more harm than good though.

You must know when to outcross.

..Kennel blind is the thing i should say...ive always thought that if i take the best of the best then i should have the better of the two... now that i get alittle older i use what i have....which could be "joe Blow" mixed with Joe Betty who never meet each other...and end up with a better dog than i started with.....Paper hangers make the game worth while......but bulldoggers make the game worth there time

lwg why would a person be intrested in a ped if they know nothing about the dogs in one ?

So what good are papers for then other then sitting on a self i mean before paper there were some great bulldogs correct. so does a set of papers really mean that dog is the best available?

Papers don't make the dog, and papers don't mean the dog is bred the way they say either. Papers give people a better since of mind about what it is they have, and what way they may want or may not want to take the breeding if thats what they choose to do. A dog will always make the pedigree pretty or ugly depending on the dog itself. An inbred dog is an indivual just like any other, but the value of the paper depends on the value of the dog the paper belongs to.

The ped is so you can breed the damn dogs lol They are a map to use And yes befor there were reg serv, there were great dogs but you can bet that the people with those dogs knew how there dogs were bred and would keep records. I would think every one here understands that the dogs ae only as honest as the man You get them from. If he was a crook (that what a paper hanger is) dont put a whole lot of faith in the ped. But if you get a good dog with a correct ped , they ped is what makes the dog after his time in the woods, With all the easy street Ch dogs the peds are a very important part of breeding dogs, And the only way to understand a ped is to SEE the dogs behind them, Nothing makes me happer than when I am damn sure on how a dog is bred and how his parents were and so on It makes it a lot better to know the dogs come from Bulldogs then I dont know what the hell he is but his ped says this LOL Id reather just start with something I know I like. I cant stand a paper hanger My first Ch dog I made was hung and it was a bitch to find out the truth. and to be honest most of the time they are hung for a reason that is less than honerable. it is just bad It is better to put unknown.

What would you call them a lier?? No A crook is more like it if you come to me and you tell me I want a Mayday dog, and I dont have any mayday dogs , But I have papers for one so I go on the hunt find a dog with same colors and about the same age and sell you a dog who I have no idea how its breed and say its a mayday dog. I take your money and send you home with something that is not true! That my friend is a fuckin crook I dont care how you put it!. If some one says Hey I got these pups there bred like this but the ped says this I can deal with that, that way I know what I got and can reg my dogs as UNKNOWN and start from there. But to hang a ped on a dog that is not the ped for the dog that is a crook! I have had paper hung dogs as well as most of yall even if you didnt know it, I hate a paper hanger JUST HATE THEM< I mean I have loaded my gun and allmost killed a man over it and allmost ruined my life, yall better stop that shit if any of yall are reading this and dont think it matters. Yall think about this a 22 lr stinger works on your ass too so be honest!

True ben but knowing hes a paper hanger people would get dogs from him because there was a really good chance of them being bulldogs. Ive been told myself from a really good friend of his that alot of his breedings where done with good dog to good dog. So this kinda dates back to the question....other than ones personal use what good are the papers and why inbreed dogs like crazy just so you can have the tightest blood around? Ive noticed that alot of smarts are lost with the heavy inbred dogs but it seems alot of them will start earlier too.
