I guess if you are still going to use them with it you should tell the other hunters, I meen yall are saying how this i not a good sport for youth, It would be it was the funnest thing I did a a young man. If everyone was they way they were , but ther is a dark side to this game and you must teach them to be straight. Couse ther are still folks in this game where he loves his dogs and you give his yard that shit he may park down the road with a deer rifle and pop your shit, Thats the cold hard facts, ther has been some bad stuff all ready couse of that babisia. Like the poor boy that had the car sit on him. things happen And just beeing honest would stop all that if yall still want to hunt them.

TripleJ, I am in no way tying to argue with you and I understand your thought process on this. Are you telling me that you blood test every single animal on your yard, every animal that yours come into contact with yours and cull every positive animal whether or not they show symptoms ? I don't think its "no big deal" and I agree with you that those that have had it and didn't disclose it really screwed many people over. Puppy peddelers that breed it and sell it without disclosing it REALLY screwed people over too IMHO !! But what do you do if a breeding between two positive animals is done and NONE in the litter show symptoms ? Then they go on to become bulldogs and live to be 12 years old ?? What a waste of animal if they were culled. And if two simple shots ( much like rabies or parvo ) is all a positive animal needs to live an otherwise normal life why would you eliminate a whole entire yard or bloodline ? To my knowledge I have never had a positive dog on my yard and I have never had the symptoms on any animals I ever owned but if I found out that there may have been one animal in my "line" that was treated for it two generations back...am I going to cull every singe animal on my yard ?? HELL NO !! Even if I do it will not eliminate babesia or it's spread. It's here now and the thing that must be done is just deal with it and treat animals that display symptoms. Be up front, open and honest in all you dealings and leave it up to the individual that you are dealing with if they want to breed, show, pull or get an animal from you. Nobody wants the stuff but if your active you must treat every single hunt as if your going into a positive hog and be prepared to cull or treat them afterward. I will choose two simple shots with a needle that save my animal over one shot from a gun that kills them every time. Even if I choose to remove the animal from the gene pool he or she can retire and live a happy healthy life as a companion.

It is my understanding is you can cure it now (Thats just what I want to do ) its 1,000 per 4 dogs . They did not have that when it came like a theif in the night, and it can stop being spread if folks are honest, and ther is no way I would even risk hunting with dogs with it, What I am saying is if you choose to keep them dont be lazy (people are) treat the dog or shoot the dog, dont breed them and for gods sake dont hunt with folks with out it while you know dogs have it. Its a sad thing trust me. I hope I dont ever get any more dogs with it.And I hope no one evry has to do what I have seen done becouse of it. I really think we should all pull together and pull a fund for the poor folks that do get it so we can stop it. It can be controled and those numbers of yards with it are a little off I belive. I think some of that is people that had it, tryin to make it look as common as worms or something. LOL when in the real world its very bad.

First off the strain of babesia that is prevalent in bulldogs IS NOT CURABLE! If people want to make excuses for keeping dogs that are infected with it, then more power to them! But at least inform anyone buying dogs/pups from you, or any other dog related activities your dogs may be involved in. Just because some choose to keep dogs infected, doesnt mean everyone in the bulldog world should.

Depends on the strain of babesia thats the dog is carrying. B. Gibsoni is not carried by ticks, or fleas often (or at all). B. Gibsoni is the more dangerous, not cureable, and the strain that bulldogs are very susceptible to.

The B .Gibsoni strain is the ONLY one I have ever seen hit gamedogs and when it does you better load the 22.

And ice pick the only people that I have seen Talk the strain down are the ones with it on there yard, Take it from me it is very bad to watch your dogs go threw it. And to be truth full if the numbers of yards are so full of babisa like stated how come no one has it like they used too, Couse people that have had it culled that shit out. Like they wer supose to. Not cover it up with meds and sell pups full of it and make it sound like worms. and another thing is once a yard was foud out to have it NO ONE would mess with any one with it and the ones Like jack were exposed about it. So in fancy words they make it look like its nothing. But back to the book other than that its a good book!

I havent read that book by Jack, but I may someday (maybe). I have seen what Babesia does to a dog though, on a few different occasions in the mid-late 90's, and its not a nice thing to see. Most of the dogs were unknowingly exposed to Babesia during competition, and on pretty well known yards.

The book is nothing more than a bunch of info collected from other sources, and re-mixed into the author's own words. The same guy who has never conditioned a dog, and his record competing stands at 1-2L. An opinionated "hustle" man who's word is only good for the people who don't really know him. The guy has done more harm to the breed, than any other breeder in history. Jack said along time ago, I'm in bulldogs, because it's the new wave! I will make tons of money, like Patrick. A 2bit, hustle man, who surrounded himself around real dogmen, only to use his position to prey on newbies and green horns. He may know a thing or two about a raw diet, but how could anyone take advice from a so called conditioning expert, but has never conditioned or shaped a one?

Im Not really going to say my point of view on what I think of jack or his dogs. I wasent trying to knock the man, I Know Jack want money for the dogs , I only red the book couse A friend left it for me to read and I am glad he did, ther is a few things on Dr dogs I liked learning. I try and learn as much as I can about the dogs I found it saves Dogs money and time. You know Old blue I didnt even read the Keep part or the feed part. To be honest I dont think Jack knows Jack more than me how to shape a dog or feed a dog beetter then me lol. Thats a fact Jack. LOL. But I do think its worth a read andI did learn some things. I have never red the merck manual. hell I dont buy any books if some one drops one by I will read it , But to be honest I do think jacks book is one of the better ones I read.

most all books are written this way...people go out do research, collect information and then re-write it....that is exactly what Jack did...the only difference in the two is that most credit their sources and Jack did not....the book is a good read for both new and old....the medicinal section will pay for the book if one has multiple dogs...i agree he is a money maker and has made a ton off these dogs....i can't comment on his dogs as a whole...i have only seen three that were straight vise grip bred, two were straight from him....of the two straight from him one did not work out and the other was no talent, game to the bone plug....the third had a shot of mayday blood top and bottom and picked up two before bad habits ruined his working equipment....i am a believer in good dogs are where you find them....as far as his conditioning information, it is solid basic information...if someone has did a few keeps it will be a good read...if never been involved with a keep it is a great read...regardless of where the info originated....
like i said before, not a big fan of the self anointment of Jack as "all things bulldog"...i do not buy into his 89.7% production success rate either....but the book is a solid read for anyone with a bulldog....and a pretty good read (medicinal) for anyone with a multiple dog household.....US1
