I just read the book. Well most of it there is alot of it you just learn from doing it, but I can 100% say I wish I did have a book like this when I was 14 and really starting my own way. There is a load of great info on the care taking and raising pups. His views are very open minded and honest. I dont do this much but I do recomend this book it is really a must for any one starting with the dogs, Now I dont agree with every thing but who would, and I dont care for the strain of dogs he had , nor how the Babesia is kinda played down to a treatable nothing thing when in fact It has wiped out great dog yards do to this atatude. But other than that he is on the money.

About babesia, do you think these yards would have been wiped out if they were prepared and doing what he describes?

Aere you nuts Yes this is If yall tuff guys would help out some of the kids. They wouldnt need books. How many of yall were in since a kid I think a good part of the brotherhood starts very young , If you want to act like you are to grown thats fine but dont mistake this if you are around long you will get that thinking knocked right out by a kid. And Yes I think about babesia that shit should have never spread like it did. I had to see to many good dogs shot from it so keep you lil snippy shit to youself

If you want to help out a 14 year old, tell him to find another hobby. Ok i will give you your credits, congratulations you were 14 when you started ... there is people who own hounds for more then 10 years and can still learn from this book.

I dont understand you about this whole babesia thing, it might be a language barrier. What im saying is that if people had been prepared it would have been less worse. If you're saying you are mad that he makes it look like nothing, ok i can understand but maybe thats how it should be put. Obivously people didnt prepare/learn what they were getting into. People start to learn and search for medicine AFTER their dogs get infected.

Im not saying i am mad about the babesia thing Let me give you a little history on dogs and people. The babesia came out in dogs no one knew what they had. You would take a great dog out side your yard and test him come home happy befor his scratches healed you get him hooked up you get him in the best shape you can you think it just have been a hard keep but you go threw with it win or loose you just spread that shit all over couse breeders didnt take that shit for real including mr jack. We didnt know tamaflu would help so the best thing was to cull the yard. now yes it pisses me off when some one knowingly spreads something like that then smoothes it over couse its treatable now. and act like every one had it. NO not true hardly any one had that shit and if I had it I shot the dog and burned them befor risking passing that shit to someone else yard. and as far as me being 14 IN the dogs or what ever you put it it was mutch younger but thats not the point.i was born in to them I said when I was 14 it would have been alot more helpfull and all newcomers should at lest read the vet meds part. and Yes at 14 I had my own dogs 3 to be honest and I had to take care of them myself feed worm doctor and breed if I wanted more and I am proud of the fact I had that life style and Im proud i had a chance to live the right way by the dogs couse back then I was comp to the young and old and no one wants to be honest with the comp.. and this would have been a big help Iwas saying this would have helped me with out having to learn the hard way, or the wrong way witch I found out is how I was doing some of my meds. im not saying only newcomers will only learn from it I recomend it for everyone. didnt you understand that

Why do u even post if all you want to do is talk shit? Does talking down on peoples post make you feel like a real life tough dogman? none of your post are entertaining nor are they educational, I'm trying to figure out why you even post...
Have you tried eharmony? Maybe a date would make u stop acting like a cranky bitter old man

Ok so the kid who ride his horse threw 400 acres of chest high palmetos to walk dogs for me or just to watch them run the mills to get another hobbie, I think not I allready have a student who gets my shit if something happens to me and I pray he will treat the lil dude the same as I treated him.

Im not bitter, just honest about it, the past is that but it does no good to suger coat how WE screwed up the dog game, I made my mistakes and so did most every one else that fed these dogs for over 10 years.and the best way to learn is to see it coming and say hell that happened and boy what a mess Maybee I better not take that dog out and spread this something may be wrong with him. No no one did that so we have to change the way we do things and help each other out when needed the sportsmenship has to come back or this is over.

What's the difference between this and the "2007 Tips" book?

I just got the "2007 Tips" on PDF and have just started into it last night.

  14. The problem with getting kids involved now is a legal issue. The dog situation is not one for an immature mind these days. To much at stake.

  15. Its a very good read, with great tips for old and new dogmen, some I don't agree with but for the most part a must have if your new and the internet is your only source............jmo

It's a good book. The book is chock full of good information for both young and old. There will be a ton of stuff most already know and then some knew information as well. I don't agree with everything he preaches, nor do I believe in his winning percentages. Mostly I disagree with how he gets credit for dogs crossed off his dogs when they win or produce, but if the dog does not work out it was either the persons fault or the breeding, never his. So if one can get by his superiority the book is well worth the price. US1

About Babesia. It's here to stay and I venture to say that ALL active dog yards have it whether or not their animals have displayed symptoms or not it doesn't really matter. Culling a positive babesia " bulldog " dog is a huge waste of animal and a huge mistake in my opinion. I would NEVER do it. Nobody wants that crap but if you have it, treat it, deal with it and disclose it if your active. I happen to agree with Jack on this issue. I didn't at first. Here is a recent blog on the topic. Well thats what a few other main players thought that is why we have it, I have to take my hat off to the guys like gwolf and a few others and tried to do there part but others didnt now its all over, You dont have to have dogs with it and I would never watch a dog or have a dog with it tutch my stock sorry there are plenty of good folks who DONOT have it. and I hope yall get it together and start doing the right thing we never know whats next with the dogs.

Dogs are starting to build a resistance to it. Those "good folks" may very well be carriers as well. You can't cull away Babesia no more than you can cull away fleas, worms or as Jack wrote coccidia. You may think you can but you really won't know until you have a dog that display's the symptoms. You can cull all of the one's with symptoms if you wish but that won't stop it either. If you test every single animal on every active yard and cull every single positive tester then you may get it under control but you still won't eliminate it.

I culled a whole strain of dogs no one else had off Cowboy 38 of them, so it got out of control in the 90 s a few players fucked the whole game up with that shit, sorry if they tested poss they went to the other side. Yall keep breeding and spreading that shit amonst your selfs i know the main bloodlines with them and i allways ask. The shit aint no joke yall keep thinking its no big deal and breeding your bitches with it and selling them off to people that have no idea about them so they can spread that shit to there whole yard , That way you have more folks yall can convince its no big deal and bamboozle some one else about that shit. Its allways the guys with it that say its no big deal. Thats like a fine ass bitch saying Hey I got aids But they are comming a long way with treatments would you still stick her ???I know they are not the same but its a damn good comperison
