I feel ya, living in Phx we have nothing but the pet bull and bullies. I got a blue mutt, he looks nothing like a typical blue dog. Super lean, clean, and not "bully" at all.
Well I dont call him anything but mutt, maybe Amstaff, but on the daily he is called a really small (he is 23" at the withers) OBVIOUSLY mixed dog, I mean, no way he is anything close to a Pit Bull. His chest and head are smaller than their 6mo old "Pits"!
Anyway, a bully show came to town and I thought, well let me take my blue mutt, just for fun and see how he does. Got there and I didnt even go in, my poor dog was way to normal and proper to even show in the fun shows lol nothing "big" about his head or "super wide" about his chest, it was sad.
There were dogs that looked like they wanted to be shot after walking 3 steps, they had piss stained and dirty dogs, bow legs and their ass ends higher than their heads.. I could go on and on, but my pretty damn good for a blue mutt dog was laughed at, ahh the ambully world

Reality is most people don't know what they're looking at...most of mine are Buckskins, so if you've ever seen a boxer mix, then you would know why I say that, especially when boxers are a common dog in my area, & so are Labs!

Its just my response if asked, when walking 1, or if I had 1 with me in the truck...it keeps the stuborn, & ignorant pitbull know it alls away, which is fine with me!
Shit if they don't know what their looking at...then they don't need to know!

When I was younger we used to have a purebred white boxer with a brindle patch on 1 eye...people always called him a pitbull, & would argue with us when we told him he was a boxer! He was 1 of our yard dogs on the chicken yard!

When you say "lil pocket pits" are you saying that all small dogs should be wiped out? Actually some of the most infamous bulldogs in history were TINY by todays standards. I have some tiny ones right now that seem like they might be something. Only time will tell of course, but you know what I'm saying.

At least in South Africa we got only a very few Bullies that have been recently imported in SA, so our shows got pitbulls. One show even told a owner that his dog was a bully and they dont have any catagory for bullies so its can't enter. The problem I see is there is a lot of interest in blue dogs and bullies so people will start breeding these heavily infact some already has.

On another note I used to have a boxer cross dalmatian as a kid and people always asked if he was a pitbull but he did kinda look it except he was really tall with long legs, he wasnt undershot either!

Every dog I have ever had has been bred off proven families, and they varied in weight from 24-67 pounds. For your retarded ass to say pocket pits shows what you know and that is nothing. These are A P B T not pits not pitties not pocket pits or any other dumb ass thing stupid people call them these days.

 

There is a real northeast club, The Tristate APBT Club. There was a show last month, weather was good for a change, and lots of real dogs there as well.

 

It is a shame that the shows are turning over to a fad, however, that's what show rings are aren't they? Different looks come and go. When you breed for show the dogs change according to changes in taste. That's how we ended up with the AmStaff and Bullies in the first place. The same goes with working dogs too. Dogs bred for pulling look different compared to those bred for hunting etc.
