Feisty Pup

Discussion in 'Training & Behavior' started by Lovin_Life27, Mar 27, 2012.

  1. Quick Question:

Capone is 8 weeks old and when he gets hurt (bola- my adult Pit, nips him a little too hard, you acciedently step on his tail, you acciedently touch where he got shots) he throws a fit.....growling, snapping etc.

What do I do to correct this or redirect this?

You can correct your self as an owner and understand that the pup needs to be protected from the adult dog. What do you expect for the dog to do? Sit there and take the punishment? Also, If I am not mistaken the only shot that would really cause pain is an intramuscular shot such as the rabies, the regular puppy shots are done just under the skin.

Maybe be a little more careful and not step on your puppy?

Honestly all the pups I have ever raised were not like that with pain. They acted like things did not hurt.

I personally would be very very cautious of the dog being that way. My gut says cur snapping and that is a feable minded dog IMO

Agree with post above as well.

Fear biters are bad too, it all depends what size shoe they are stepping on the pup with lol

  5. Its my 3 year old that stepped on his tail.....once.

I've never seen an APBT pup display the behaviors he does with pain.

I have a Cane Corso, when she was a pup she was a hot head like this.

He mainly acts like this to people....i just kinda am starting to think hes gonna be like Honey, my Corso n have a short fuse.

I'll post his pedigree n mayve that could explain somethings....

a dog is a dog, it all depends on how long the dog was kept with the mom and liter mates. How old was the pup when you got it?

Naming a molosser breed and comparing it to an APBT it's a pointless comparison since they are two different breeds bred for two different purposes.

If I weren't shown any affection and always being bullied, I would be kinda snappy as well....What reason do I have to be nice?
