flushing your dog

Hey guys I've heard flushing with mineral oil was the best. Is that correct? If so how much should be given? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

yes i just got a bitch back from a friend who she was placed with.... well one pop up visit and she came home with me. she was so bad ate up with worms. I called him up and i thought he was smarter then that because he is college teacher. guess that's what i get for thinking. but anyways shes having a hard time passing the worms. And the DUMB s.o.b was feeding her table scraps of re fried beans and a whole bunch of stupid shit he had no right too. so I'm trying to flush her out and get anything out along with helping with the worms. so please can someone tell me how much mineral oil to use. or if i should use something else. thanks in advance

 

if its constipatedu go to a vet, if not give a good wormcure and quality food

You aint gonna be able to pass worms with mineral oil. You gotta give em a pill.

Worms are caught via fleas. The infected fleas hop on the dog, do their thing livin on the dog, the dog chews at them and they get ingested.. then the tapeworm hatches in the dog's intestine, hooks into the wall of the intestine and breaks off segments (I'm assuming the dog has tapeworms). The segments come out the dog's ass when it shits and hang out on the dog's asshole, where fleas come by and eat the eggsacs, get infected with the eggs, the dog chews on the fleas, etc etc cycle continues.

Only sure way to get rid of tapeworms is to give em a worming pill and flea medication.

mineral oil should not be used longer than a week if your using it. in humans that stuff coats the hell out the GI tract and prevents vitamins A,D,E and K. It can also cause anal leakage too. i can see it being the same for a dog. the proper diet should stop constipation.

if the dog has worms you should get dewormers

not all of them are caught by fleas only tapeworms. i agree i never heard of mineral oil for worms. he needs ivermectin 1% that will clear the dog up. praziquantel for tapeworms, if you dont have the time and money to go to the vet get fish tape forte. that will get rid of the tapes, but you need to take care of the flea issues if the dogs has them first. kick your friend in the ass for being an asshole teacher lol.

 

You beat me too it with the tape.....I would also suggest doing a three day round of safeguard

 

they could use safeguard, but ivermection 1% will do the same thing and more. the only thing i would use is the ivermectin 1%, Pyrantel Pamoate and fish forte and the dog would be good.
the ivermectin is so strong it would clean the whole dog out alone except tapes. pyrantel pamoate i would use just as a hammer on the situation for large hook & round worms , but the ivermectin 1% should cancel the problem out alone. its nearly impossible to over-worm a dog. the de-wormers will only benefit them if your giving it to them at the correct dosages.

 

Im sorry i had a complete sentence that didn't get typed. I wormed her withe pyrantel pamoate and ivomec when i brought her home. But idk if it has to do with her being so bad ate up with worms or all the junk her feed her she is shiting but not a whole lot and there's obvious discomfort when she trys.

 

if the dog was fed like shit and is looking like its lacking nutrition dont use mineral oil. it will not let the body absorb anything. it will just slide the food right out. give the dog more fiber in the diet and you will see the dog take the shits the way you want. pumpkin is good. only 1 teaspoon full per feed any more will give the dog the shits. this will allow the food to atleast get absorb in the body. mineral oil wont do anything but continue to give your dog malnutrition. if you still use it i wouldn't use it too long 1-3 days.

 

Oh yeah I know that haha, I just assumed his dog has tapeworms as that's the one I hear peoples dogs getting commonly infected with.

Unfortunately, you can't buy plain ol Drontal worming tablets or anything in a store.. tapeworm meds have to be bought from a vet.

I hope your dog pulls through this. I know what it's like to have a pet sick with worms, it really sucks One pill and they're gone though so keep that in mind.
Good thing about the vets is that you don't have tp bring your dogs in, either. Just call em up, tell em the breed, weight, age and they stick it in a bottle and tell you to go pick the pills up. Last time I got worming pills I got 3 for $20.

its the same active ingredient Praziquantel thats in drontal/droncit and whatever else they sell.

Thanks everyone for all the help. My bitch had always had fresh water a clean circle and looked good so i put a little for trust in him. But when i made the surprise vist it BLEW MY MIND. Well it go's to show you people aren't always who you think they are.

 

Its shitty, but just all the more reason I dont trust anyone with my dog. No one will do it right like you, and the people you think can handle it usually will hugely disappoint :/ people suck.. hope she comes out of this pretty quick !

 

Nothing mentioned about a blockage?....is she shitting at all? Any tarry looking shit? Constipated may mean she ate something like string, towel etc and is plugged!

 

Soy milk and tortias work might sound stupid but its a old mexican trick. All you have to do is cook the tortias and mix it with the soy milka nd there you go.
