i made up about 15 snack balls with pnut butter, corn, grnd meat, gravy, wheat germ oil. i froze them and gave him a thawed out snack ball once every 2 day. that ran out 1 mnth ago but i have continued to add wheat germ oil in his daily feed. for the past week he has been acting tired only after walking 3-4 blocks. i have recently gv ivermectin and noticed some weight gain. i also slacked off from walking him due to other issues going on. i know that him gaining a lil weight+me not walking him for a week before+the slightly warmer weather is gonna contribute to this but does the wheat germ oil cause fatigue or overheating if given too much. i introduce it gradually into his system using the snack balls btw.

dogs are allergic to corn so I wouldn't feed him that. why exactly are you feeding this snack ?

The wheat germ shouldn't be causing fatigue. It's actually a great source of energy. Is the dog anemic at all and have you been worming for hook and roundworms? Any healthy dog should be able to walk a few blocks no problem even with a year of living on the couch.

Dont think he's anemic, never had any issues before. The snacks were something I thought about after reading that the wheat germ oil should be introduced gradually. Had a small amount of meat leftover and PB&J sandwichs are rare around my house so I through a jar of that with it and added a small amount of wheat germ oil. Figured he would take it better that way but now I just add it in his kibble every other day. He may have been tired from chasing the neighbors new dog up and down the fence line all day. I usually walk him after work around 9pm. I keep it up to see if anything changes just glad to know that the oil is ok to give to him.

Wheat germ should give him energy.I'd knock off the corn, peanut butter, and gravy for sure. And like naus said make sure he's worm free.

i gave him his shots and the safeguard packets 2 mnths ago and a dose of ivermectin 2 weeks ago and since then he's gain a lil weight so i dont think he has worms. he plays and runs all day in the backyard just fine like he has in the past but just from the last 2 walks in the past 4 days i noticed the fatigue. im starting to think that he's learned how to pace his self and is doing just that after a few blocks....???

A lot of dogs are also allergic to wheat, overall that's a bad combination. I'd throw that stuff in the trash if i were you.

Does the wheat germ oil you are giving also contain vitamins A & D? If so, these are fat soluble vitamins which add up over time and can become toxic if given indefinitely. The vitamin E in wheat germ oil is great for reproductive health but if you want to use a daily oil for energy then salmon oil is your best bet.
