I dunno. I just keep my pets away from coons, skunks and stray cats. Don't wanna take any chances.

Squirrels too. Unfortunately, there are a lot of squirrels with mange in my area, poor things look like they're sitting around with no sweater on.

You have never seen a real coon hunt then. Coon in water has the advantage over any dog even a proven bulldog let alone just some average dog.

Far as wild game to add to this, anything under 50lbs in north america as wild game will have a hell of a time with a coon. Coons are a lot mean and badder animals than most give them credit for. I seen a coon cur a hunting dog and I seen a young dog make a name for himself with real hunters but any dog that goes toe to toe better be smart and ready for an ass whoopin. Every situation is individual. Yes I have seen coons in the city that live in sort of packs, we ran into something like that not that long ago, lucky I had more than my patterdale with me because that would have already been story no one would believe.

It was about 12:30 Monday night or early Tuesday morning either way you look at it and I woke up to my dogs going crazy and I thought that they might have seen something and would stop barking but when it went on a little longer I went to check on them and this one http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/public/printPedigree.php?dog_id=370886 and Coon Coon were going at it and Coon Coon was going as hard as Amos was. Now I wasn't about to step in between these two mf's because I know Amos and he knows me but Coon Coon didn't care about none of that shit and I didn't want him to turn his anger onto me and latch onto me with those needle ass teeth. Coon Coon and Amos went at it for about ten minutes but Coon Coon lost the battle but I tell you what, that lil mf went out dead game with Amos's lip in his mouth. Amos ran around carrying Coon Coon in his mouth like a trophy for another ten minutes and I was scared to grab him becaues I thought Coon Coon was playing possum and would come back too as soon as I would grab Amos and run up my arm and start biting the shit out of me and that shit was not about to happen. I finally got Amos focused on the flirt pole and he droped Coon Coon and I shouveled his ass out my yard. True story. I have seen them get possums and armodilos but never a racoon and that was some shit to see.

Funny how Amos would carry the coon in his month like he just won the lotto, I am sure he would have tried to give the coon to you and as soon as you went to grab it, he would pull away. My dog does that, I have to grab her collar and tell her to drop it.
    Good read.

that vid is funny why would anyone keep anything other than a working dog bulldog, bullx etc..walking out in the woods with my big powerful gsd, that shit would really fuck my day up..

  12. Cause somebody's gotta find the coon/hog/ whatever and most of the time a bulldog doesn't have the nose to pull it off. Think about it. If they could why would anybody competition hunt with anything but a bulldog? Right tool for the right job.

    KingFisher. Big Dog

what? you dont need anything other than a bullx and bulldog that can get along and work together and that is the prefect team, right tool for the job??????? what job are we talking about , catch and destroy, and the above is the prefect combo ..

Teck2200 Amos is doing fine now but I will say that if you love your animals get them their rabies shots ASAP. Amos didn't have his a the time of the coon incident but I immediately took him and the rest of my dogs to the vet to get their rabies shot. I had him in quarantine for over a month just to make sure if he did have rabies that he didn't spread it.

  16. In order to catch, you must find. In order to find you must have nose. Hounds and curs (real curs) have better noses than bulldogs. They may have to take a trail that is hours old. Your average bulldog can't do that. How much dog hunting have you done? Coons and hogs aren't just standing out there under a neon sign that says "CATCH ME NOW".

do you even know what a bullx is? as for my bulldogs not having a nose is bullshit i have been out many many times without my bullx to catch the prey and allowed my bulldog to scent up and sometimes been out for hours and on a foggy day, once my dog had been introduced to the smell once followed by a little play they all knew the drill and believe me they were not looking for a silly coon.... i dont ride on the back of some truck with my bulldogs for hours allowing a load of curs to do most of the ground work and for me to finished the job after 10mins wheres theb sport in that?, my dogs work from start to finish without any help from curs or me to put the finish on and my bulldogs can climb trees so for me and where i live its the prefect team...

    KingFisher. Big Dog

i bet you ride on the back of some truck aswell

  20. And so what were they looking for? I'm curious. What kind of beasties were you and your bullx's after?

You must have some VERY good bulldogs if all you had to do was "introduce" them to a scent, play a little and you're good to go. With most dogs it takes quite a bit more time and effort than that. What are these bulls of yours crossed with ?
