Mongrels and Parolees

I'm not trying to bash tia maria and I admire what she does for the dogs but there are many flaws in her program. First of all the show is called pitbulls and parolees and she constantly claims they are the biggest pitbull rescue but when you look at it closely You will see that almost half the dogs showed on TV in that centre look nothing like an APBT or even an APBT cross, now why call it pitbulls and parolees ? Is it a marketing scheme somehow? I read somewhere on this forum that the breed got it's bad name when uneducated people were allowed to own the breed. I quote this because I can see this Lady is utterly clueless about the true purpose and history of this great breed. Don't get me wrong I understand the nobleness of what she does but she acts as she has got the breed completely figured out because she has experience with wild animals like Tigers. lmao. I would not mind donating some cash there but I would never feed any of those sorry mutts myself. I believe the show's name should be changed to the above title. Because she is just promoting propaganda. please Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong people

 

general public doesnt know the difference between a bully and a pit bull or an am staff for that matter. she should educate the difference, and get people in the "loop". it'd take some of the bad wrap off the apbt and put it more on the owners that breed and buy man biters and "mean" dogs. she does show that not all "pit bulls" are man biters and she seems to show respect for the fact that these dogs shouldnt be left alone together(from what i've seen) which i think is a bit more than i can say for shorty which shorty just goes and steals dogs and pawns them off on random shelters he doesnt even have kennels hes a middle man. also heard that tia doesnt even adopt most of her dogs out they just sit in kennels. you might see it as propaganda but shes atleast trying to do something positive and i think it is positive to an extent but to me if your running a pit bull rescue you shouldnt be all that suprised or disgusted that the dogs have scars and all that jazz, even though most if not all the dogs they rescue have no business even being near a box(saw an episode of pit boss and that really irritated me for some reason).

 

I hate her she don't do nothing positive. Promotes the breed to idiots who don't know shit about real dogs, just labs and chihuahuas. I hate anyone who calls those blue mutts "pit bulls". I don't actually hate bullies. I just hate people who refuse to call em what they are.

There's folks that legitimately don't know the difference but a person in Tia's position knows. She knows Bully the Kid (who is in Bullies and knows they are Bullies) so I'm positive she knows.
Some people get offended by the idea that their Bullies aren't really the "badass pittz" they've been calling them for years so they refuse to learn when told, I imagine that is probably her case.
Any person who refuses to learn when told the truth is just an ignorant ass in my book.

 

i have seen an old episode that she explains the isue with the blue pits. talking of a specific incident with a blue, she says that they usualy are bred only for colors and not for character etc and they have problems with them as many are not of stable character...

then, i cant remember if it was on the same episode or other, she shows a game looking pit, looking around 20 kilos or maybe less and she says that this is a true 'southern type' bred pitbull, not bred for looks like modern pits (or something like that), that has a stable characted etc etc.

i think one can only say so much on tv...

 

Well to the OP yes it is a marketing ploy of course and not all those dogs she has are full blooded she has mixes hell she is trying to do a good thing which is better than i can say for most people she does realize the dog aggression in these animals and makes sure not to let them get hold of each other and is good about finding homes for the ones she does now with that being said no she may not know as much as some of us but she does try and they can't really market the show as "Pitbull Type" and parolees LOL but you know how tv goes anyway

 

I will have to agree and disagree, please tell me how can you run a rescue for a breed you hardly know anything about? I'm no animal trainer but I don't approach every pit dog I come across with fear and caution I believe her rescue style & approach is not very clever as she assumes with almost every stray dog that it may be a man biter giving the public a bad name for the pitbull once again, I saw an episode were there was a kennel fight and lil miss Tia could not handle the pressure of her dogs getting into fights and she had to fire the person responsible. And she also promotes the killing or culling Red Zone man biters. I only believe in not breeding a man biter but I do believe in giving him a chance of living a full life, like bullyson jr who was given a chance by his owner and after hard work and patience bullyson jr bonded with his owner who he had attempted to bite several times.

Most people just will not know the difference or anything about it. This is not peoples passion, they do not care to know the extra information. So it is pointless to try to teach them. The people who want to know, will try to find out for themselves. This is with any breed... all them people that own shepherds, labs, or any kind of dogs. They do not know their animals background, their ped, the dogs in their ped, the difference between their dog and a working dog of that breed... the characterstics and what their dog should act like and the precautions they should take depending on the breed. People just dgaf about this shit... thats how it is.

i wouldnt be fear full of a dog most of them dogs is curs all bark any dog can sense fear and they capitalize off it. but hey go find a dog man that would feed a man biter thats not good in the box or doesnt have a decent blood line, its basic culling you think the people breeding those mutts understand the importance of culling? hell no they breed anything that walks so naturally some need to be culled. but like i said "to me if your running a pit bull rescue you shouldnt be all that suprised or disgusted that the dogs have scars and all that jazz" and to extend on that she should realize kennel fights happen and fights happen you. if you got more than 2 dogs (any breed) expect a fight at some point. dogs fight period its stupid to expect any dog to not fight. so i agree if you cant handle the slaughter house dont buy the steak. theres no need to be freaked out over a fight.

 

My main problem is her acting as king of the breed when she knows jack. She is the type of people that learn one thing about a breed then think they got it figured out. I hate how she promotes ignorance by teaching people about something she knows jack about. This is like a math's teacher who is qualified to teach elementary but jumps straight ahead to becoming a college lecturer. And I can see she has personal problems judging by how much she cries over little things that even my saint mother would not care about. She looks like an ex junkie. lol. A very insecure one
