I first introduced myself here a few years back but wasn't very computer savvy so I have not been back on since my first post. At the time I had just been surprised with a puppy as a birthday gift. I hadn't had an APBT for several years but my wife knew of my passion for the breed and I had been talking about getting another for several months so she did her best to get me a decent dog. She didn't remember alot about bloodlines but she did make sure the dog was ADBA registered because she knew that was important and by all rights she did her homework to check out the bloodline with some online research and in the end I was given the gift of a dog out of the Razors Edge bloodline. Odin is a beautful dog, very lean and muscular with a nice big head and he is a wonderful red and blue brindle but it wasn't long before I could see that he was not like the other APBT's I had owned in the past. In fact he acted more like a lab than a Pit and other than a wonderful lap dog and companion he is as worthless as tits on a hog but I still love the hell out him. The dogs I had been accustom to were out of Game Bred dogs and I hunted with one, trained personal protection & weight pulled the others. This is the caliber of dog I am looking for now so I can re dedicate my life to the preservation of the APBT. I will not breed the bloodlines I have in my yard now because I can't bring myself to reproduce these genetics.

Here are a few pics of my old dogs from the mid 90s

Just wanted to get that off my chest...

  2. well , the RE bloodline is most associated with the american bully breed of dog , they sell them as apbt and they are basically bred to be as you say , a nice friend .. not an apbt , they have a dubious background and the creator of said bloodline really cant even decide the history behind them himself.

I never even heard of a Bully until this dog and I am ready to have a real dog in my yard again. No disrespect to the guy at RE.

Good to see you over here. Haha, yeah, you don't get much when you buy a bully, but at least they're good house dogs. I'm not seeing your pictures either by the way.

I posted the bbcode in the thread so they should be showing up... My Bully at least looks like a pit and is very agile, athletic and in good shape. He weighs 85lbs. Wonder what up with the pics.

OK in the album where I posted them it says "Moderated" under the pics so maybe since I have so few posts they need mod approval before they can be viewed... Any help from a Mod would be appreciated...

Nice they are showing up as attachments at least. I agree my two Blue dogs are not near as fiery as the Game Pits but I don't think they fit into the "Bully" category as I still show them UKC and they are far from worthless. They are not fat or lazy and they are workable as far as personal protection and all around good home protection.

This is my boy Odin @ 85 lbs... Doesn't look very fat and thrumpy to me...

This is Freyja at 65 lbs... She can pick up a radar signal across town but she is far from fat...

They both look in pretty good shape to me and they run their asses off most of the day.

I agree they are not as Hard as a "Real" Pitbull but they are smart, powerful, athletic and still better than any other breed out there IMO.

Now on the other hand... I have pissed alot of people off when I see them walking those things that look like over sized wiener dogs with a pit bull head and english bulldog chest. I almost came to blows with a guy in the park a few weeks back when he asked if I would consider letting him stud his male to Freyja and I said Hell No and asked what he was mixed with to be so ugly but when the chips hit the floor he turned out to be just like his dog... Kurr... If there is anyone in the Kansas City/Topeka area with some nice blood please hit me up. I'm gonna make it a point to be at the local ADBA shows this year to see whats out there. Peace, Big V

Yep, those aren't Pit Bulls, they're definitely American Bullies. Nice ones though. Not all of them are trainwrecks, I've seen people who have AmBullies as catch dogs... but they're not as good, in any working field, as an APBT.

they r just regular bullies to me and certainy not better then any other breed IMO.

I would even think of using either of these two as a Catch Dog. I mean they are great for wood ratts and one of them will catch a squirrel every now and then but to put them up against a Badger or Boar would be a mistake I think. I don't think they are as sharp of critical thinkers nor can they handle stress like the Game Bred dogs I am use to working with. That is why I am here. What I have seen called Pitbulls over the last 3 years is sickening to me and I can't just sit back and watch the breed I came to love be watered down and washed away. It happened to me with the Rottweilers in the late 80s and now you can't hardly find a good Rottie that holds to breed standards as far as size or temperament.

Yeah, it seems like this is the end of the line for real working breeds... it's just a matter of time before they go the way of the EBT and Basset... Deformed for looks at the expense of ability...

Totally agree with you about the rottweilers. nice looking bullys though....

Thank you for your opinion. Your point is duly noted, appreciated and will be taken into account when I pick out my next dog. I promise the next time I won't make the same mistake.

This would be a definate tradgedy. That is one reason I have decided I will not breed these two Bullys even though I could easily rake in $1200 a puppy and $1500 for the pick. Both of them are out of UKC Title holding dogs.

    Thanks

I agree with everything you said... as far as finding a dog on the web, I am finding these words to be true but I punched the name of an old acquaintance of mine into facebook and what do you know... Up popped his profile. I have been talking with him for most of the night and now my options are looking very good. I think I am going to be able to get my hands on something special right out of the gate but it will be later this summer as long as everything goes as planned.
