I seem to have been able to get dogs to use the wire collar fence , I think it is only good for supervised use. Has any one ever used it ? The one thing i don't like is it seems to make dogs more sheepish on property, I don't believe it will work if they see another dog ??.

Are you seriously trying this on a bulldog?

I am to WAS trying, my male dog with me will use it but alone went through it today , MY female dog who is more skidish a dog in general, is good with it but i am going to stop using the thing on the PB's (the Poodle might be the only dog ). If it would work a $100 wire fence from wall mart it not going to work.

Sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Hope you have insurance and a good lawyer because thats what you are going to need. When I put the dog in the front yard I do so responsibly. I use a basic axle setup in the ground and since I dont want to leave any bad impressions on my neighbors instead of using a chain I use a cable setup. 30ft of cable with a 1000+ reading of strength attatched to the axle for a tie out. I bought the cable at Home Depot or Menards IDK. TREAT THEM LIKE ANIMALS AND LOVE THEM LIKE PEOPLE.................... they dont need to run free brother.............

Dont buy the cheap Cables you see packaged and ready to go at Petsmart or anything like that. Make your own and they say 2 claps is enough on each end, but to make myself feel safe I put an extra one on there, so three all together on each side attached to the dog and the other end arround the 2 O-rings attached to the axle..

Yea well i had picked up this wire fence 2 yrs ago and wanted to try it, I see it is of no use . I assume when my dogs play with each other there play bite is probably worse then the wall mart special.
I was told a $1000 will get you a set up with collars that can knock a dog into compliance, But clearly i can see my dog if he saw RED , hard to say. Any way I only wanted to use it a nite (3:00 am) I don't have vast land but I just want a way to let my dogs out to safely blow off steam.
I have tie outs 18 feet, I am very impressed with my current dogs wile I have no doubt they will deal with a nasty dog (so i have to be safe ) they are luckily very nice to certain dogs near by, I have had once or twice a fire breathing PB, These are not, BUT never think a pit bull will not fight if he feels he needs to.
I met a APBT owner recently, who in a nut shell told me his dogs personality
"my dog is like a mirror with a delay, If you are nice he will be nice , If you want to fight he will fight. He will be equal to what you show him"

The biggest problem with this setup is not whether it works for your dogs, rather that it doesn't work on other people's dogs. Anything can wander into your yard and it could get ugly. Put up a fence just to keep animals out, both 4 and 2 legged.
