Show destroyed breeds

Yes the Staff has been dismantled by show judges, we all now that, so what other breeds has the the show ring dismantled and rearanged for its own purpose and took away physical or purpose traits????

GSDs, Basset Hound, Labrador, Bull Terrier, English Bulldog, Jackrussell Terrier, the list goes on and on...

just how many working/hunting breeds frequent the show ring?..cuz id hate to guess the % of them that have been "altered"...bred with NO concern for their original purpose

There is still plenty of good dogs out there, ones that are bred for function and not for aesthetics, alot of breeds have gone there seperate ways from show breeding lines e.g english springer spaniels,Irish red setter and most HPR gundogs, its my personal opinion that this is the only way and i hate what has become of the staff although there are a few old style more rangy dogs out there just not enough...........

Old style rangy dogs? Was the old stafford a dog that had a certain look or was it a dog that was bred for a specific purpose? Breeding for rangy dogs is the same thing as breeding your dogs to follow the KC standard.

There should never have been a division IMO, dogs should never be bred for the showring. And there are a lot of breeds who no longer exist in their original forms, only the show-altered dog... I do not think old-style Bull Terriers exist anymore....

They where bred for a purpose which resulted in a different look and temperment. The same can be said for many breeds bred for purpose and not the show ring.
It is also worth noteing that in the past in Ireland in order for a staffordshire bull terrier to become a show champion it had to get a Teastos Mor(certificate of gameness) by participating badger trials. These stopped in the late 1960's sometime and alot of the lines of these types of dogs are now long gone...........

cliffdog there is oldtype bull terriers being bred have a look at ingels and thank fuck there is people still breeding the original working dogs because i hate the show stafford theve made it look very different from the original its a lapdog compered to the real mcoy

Thanks for showing me this. I would like to ask, do you know if it's a "recreation" of the old style Bull Terrier, or if it is the real deal. Either way. Good, hardy looking dogs.

there sort of a recreation breed how they supposed to be and iveherd great things about ingels bull terriers they will out do most show english bull terriers and if anyones got more info about them id like to here about it

i hear in pakistan they still have game dogs that resemble the old type bull terrier called the gull terr or gull dang although i may be corrected........ my knowledge on such breeds is limited...

I've heard of them... yeah, now that you mention it they do resemble old style bull terriers.

Hi there!

Rottweilers-----Destroyed over here only shortwinded dumb as a rock hippos left! Bone Cancer Heart Problems Hip Displasia and far too often dumb as a rock!

Boxer ------- Destroyed back then rock hard dogs just compare the Boxers of the 1930´s to those of today! Cancer, heart back bones, Hips, Heart, aswell as too often poor temparament!

GSD----- Destroyed! The list of genetically transmitted diseases is longer than their breed standard!

Dobermann----Destroyed! Cancer, orthopedical deseases, heartproblems! Often very hypered and shy no working abilities left!

American Staffordshire Terriers! Only fat and dumb hippos left! What once was created as a good all arround working dog for people with no interest in the game has become a cartoonof itself!

There are too many people making too many excuses concerning their stock and most people that a newbies to a certain breed have to start from the bullshit others have produced!

See, I did own a Rottweiler for over twelve years back then, a rock hard, agile dog with extreme drives and durabilty!
Never found any dog fitting into his footsteps concerning the breed!
He died because of a heartstroke siring his last litter within the age of twelve years!
There has never been one day he wasn´t right or willing to work! I could take him out guiding me during I was riding my bike for hours no matter if it was hot or cold! He always liked to work! We have been ciclyng to my training center ( Schutzhund etc.) about 11 kilometers one way three times a week and working there no matter if it was summer or winter! He never has been tired or exhausted at all!
Show me one Rottweiler that could do this nowadays!
