would you consider a house dog "pet" a waste of a dog?

My dogs rotate inside and out, minus a bitch who escapes everything. She is only inside during heat cycles(and hopefully when she is bred).

    Voodoo?

Mine are also rotated in and out, we are in the process of building new kennel runs, Mater is pretty much the only one that you could call a full time house dog and he is damn good at holding down the floors. :D
We have a few out door runs and a few chain spots but hoping to have runs for all dogs by late Spring, but they all will still be brought in and created when we are away and at night. I do not worry about my dogs getting off our property but I do worry about dumbasses stealing them...

  7. I only have one dog who doesn't come inside and he is a crazy Malinois.

The bulldogs live inside and outside. Some come inside more than others. Depends on the individual dog.

I agree. I have a 6 mo old pup that I keep indoors at my house. People in my neighborhood cant keep their nasty hands off other peoples hard worked/hard earned property. I wont take him outside besides bathroom breaks. Take him out early in d morn or late at night for his excersize when nobodies out and can see him forreal. But hes super protective. Goes nuts when somebody knocks on the door. But turns into a big teddy bear when we let whoevers knocking in. when we move and he gets a lil older he will be chained outside to hold down the yard. Wifes orders. :D Shes not one for inside pets. Had to bribe her to let me get him. But shes fell in love with him since we first got him. Still didnt get my money back i bribed her with tho. Lol

both mine sleep in the house and rotate out on the chain during the day. ive lost dogs due to thieving scumbags, so i watch em alot better than i did in the past. if im at the farm they both are allowed much more freedom when outside. as for wasting a dog, allowing them a family life imo is hardly considered a waste.

Yeah this is what I was getting at. Say somebody bought a nicely bred bulldog for this purpose would you breeders sell a dog to be a house pet?

  15. Is a game bred dog manageble as a house dog without an outdoor chain setup?
As long as they get plenty of exercise? Or will they just be bouncing off the walls?

im no breeder, but i have had pups before, and i would see no problem in that as long as the folks taking the dog would understand that not all dogs are ideal choices for housedogs. jumping thru windows, some just get bored and destroy things, etc. id sooner have one digging holes outside vs tearing up the carpet inside.

Bandit stays inside most of the time, but when it gets warm he wants to be outside. We have a good sized fenced yard and he has no interest going over a fence, never has (10 yrs).

All my dogs are working dogs so they live out doors.Have one that lives at my home she is retired now an the wife loves this old bitch,an when i'am not home she brings her inside thats the only dog i have ever allowed in my home. But if some of you have them as pets so be it.Game bred dogs make better house dogs IMO.
