There kinda like calluses. They get hard scabs then the dogs bust the scabs off.

What he laying on? Is it both paws?
Could be from calluse or an allergy...make sure it does not get infected....clean it regularly and you might want to think about putting a Elizabethan collar on him also till it heals!

It doesnt bother the two that have them at all. They dont act like it hurts or itches. They ignore it.

Thanks I have been cleaning them to be sure they dont get infected.

Sometimes dogs will get sores or calluses on their ankles from knocking them against their chains or on the elbows or hips from lying/sitting outside on the hard ground. Usually the sores occur over boney parts of the dog. The best solution is to put weight on the dog. By putting weight on the dog, you put padding over the bones. You just have to keep some dogs heavier than others or they will get sores. Plenty of CLEAN bedding is a must as well. Old, dirty bedding will also cause skin problems that may lead to sores.
