Sorry to bump this older topic back up, but didn't want to start a whole new topic for this one very silly guestion.
So you have Old Family Rednose pitbulls, but if what I read here is correct.. they do not excist anymore? Does this mean they have been mixed with regular pitbulls over the years? And what with all those breeders claiming to have preserved the old strain?

    There is this one breeder:

So the pitbulls he has are no OFRN? They're just like any other pitbull, just with another colour? I really would like some more insight on the matter. :)

    The newbie

At the moment I'm just interested in this phenomenon called 'OFRN' as I never heard of them before. But I see that those dogs who are concidered OFRN are just being bred to any other APBT...

I never look for color, bloodlines interest me though. I was just wondering if these OFRN had any assets for breeding them with a regular APBT, you know? But I've stumbled upon some topics about OFRN and I see what they refer to as OFRN nowadays isn't very good.

I am not really sure what you are trying to get at. Like any line or family they have had their changes over the years. As far as "OFRN nowadays" It again depends on what your goal is. If it is just comparing them with dogs of past then I am certain they are very different, but if you have an intention, such as hog hunting or weight pulling, they have much drive and potential all that is left is the training and shaping.

ea... what rgb was saying is that you know not who you speak to *laughing* search ironline or better yet ross red devil... then you'll understand...

dogeat... they are "any other apbt" so to speak... its not a different species or type of dog... its an apbt but was centered around particular dogs... ppl hold "ofrn" dear because (and i could be wrong) but the ppl who bred/breed them (and not peddle) try to hold that strain of pitbull "pure" within that family of dogs and not outcrossing... so to find a game-bred one is a thing of beauty in those ppls eyes... dont be confused ofrn isnt its own breed of dog its an apbt thru and thru

OFRN is a strain. Ofrn blood runs threw all modern day bulldogs. Dibo himself carryed the blood. Think of it as one of the strains used to develop the apbt. There are no more Pure ofrn dogs anylonger. But the dogs of today dubbed ofrn were line bred down from familys witch contained the highest amount of imported old family blood. Close inbreeding and linebreeding within these strains has caused the ressesive red red nose charicteristics that are assosiated with this blood. These dogs came from the yards of shipply, williams, cochran, mccoy, corvino, clouse, hemphill and others.
