As much of a pest as they are, that's a little too unethical for me. If I'm pulling the trigger it's to kill.

Thats one of those things you don`t talk about. It will let you know if your dog has the kill drive in it ,and will keep your dog from getting tore up if it dosn`t.You didn`t hear that from me.L.O.L.

It`s like what happened to the mountain lion in california?it`s best to keep it between you and your dog.

Well Captain Jack you better hope your willing to live the pirates life if this is seriously a consideration. But honestly thats messed up. I mean Im all for hunting and what not but make the animal virtually unable to even attempt to defend itself isnt hunting. If You wanna see what your dog can do to a coyote that bad you might should consider seeing a doctor:(

Im game for hunting and using dogs whether its varmints or yotes but I also dont like to see a fight drag out. A good dog (throat dog) will get it by the throat and finish it fast.

I see all the respect a Yote gets as to it's ability's Can a APBT manage against a wolf
    like a Timber Wolf

Iv heard that on occasion wolves and yotes have bred together, i think the contention was the red wolf actually was wolf /Yote from years ago .
    --------------------
on a different note - I realize to many people they are a pest but they still have the right to live

  10. Out hear the yotes get up to a pretty good size. Around 40-45. My male has a pretty good time catching them(we live on So. Mountain) when we're on the mountain. Some times they get away(those fuckers know which train leads where) but we usually catch them w/o too much trouble. So in short, yes a bulldog can catch a cyote.

Maybe I have had different experiences with yotes than yall, cause out here in Idaho they are weasly little scrawny bastards. As far as a bulldog catchin one, maybe under the right circumstances. As far as dispatching of one, no prob, for even your 'pet bull'. My dad had a really good friend when we lived in AZ that had a solid white GSD that he kept on like a 100ft ground cable run. He lived smack out in the desert no fences or anything. I was over staying the night once, woke up to a terrible rukus, by the time Dave got up and got his gun it was over. We went out side and found three dead yotes, Dave said he found a fourth dead later that day bout a 100yrds off. The GSD has some cuts but was nothing serious.

Round my neck of the woods I don't have to chase them. They'll come and do battle right in my chain spots. They usually seem to focus on one dog, but end up running into about 3 or 4 bulldogs because of the close proximity. It's not a common occurrence, but it does seem to happen more frequently some years. One year we had 3 incidents in Fall alone! Some years we wont see hide nor hair of them, we'll just hear them in the distance.

  13. I have also heard of this wolf/yote cross. I have a friend who works for the DEC(Department of Enviernmental Conservation), He is not a Game Officer just works with them. He also try telling me that wolfs have been breeding with coyotes.

    Here`s ca reg 265.
ยง265. Use of Dogs for Pursuit/Take of Mammals or for Dog Training.
    (a) Prohibitions on the Use of dogs. The use of dogs for the pursuit/take of mammals or for dog training is prohibited as follows:
    (1) The use of dogs is prohibited during the archery seasons for deer or bear.
    (2) The use of dogs is prohibited for the take of elk, bighorn sheep and antelope.
    (3) Mountain lions may not be pursued with dogs except under the provisions of a depredation permit issued pursuant to Section 4803 of the Fish and Game Code. Dog training on mountain lions is prohibited.
    (4) The use of dogs for the pursuit/take of mammals or for dog training is prohibited from the first Saturday in April through the day preceding the opening of the general deer season in the following dog control zones:
    4) Take of Furbearers and Nongame Mammals. Furbearers and nongame mammals as specified in Section 472(a) may be taken with the aid of dogs during the appropriate open season, except for closures and restrictions described in subsections 265(a) and (b).

so basically yes you can use dogs in most areas unless its archery season for deer or bear.the exception being nuisance animals.since all coyotes are nuisance animals if you have a hunting lic. your good to go.Even fish and game traps coyotes to kill not relocate.
