Depends on the 2 particular animals in my opinion...Thats kinda like saying can a hispanic man catch a pacific islander.. obviously there is a hispanic man out there fast enough to catch a pacific islander but theres also pacific islanders fast enough to not get caught. you see what i mean?

well, i would say in this instance, it depends on many factors.

    but...
can a bulldog catch a coyote? yes

is it something that any ol' bulldog can do? no

dogs run upwards of 20mph, coyotes in the mid to upper 30's-so in a staight line the yote can outrun a dog. now, having said that-the coyote's top speed is not endless, and you have to figure in stamina- and that is where certain domestic dogs are able to catch them.
is it a common everyday occurance? nope, but its certainly not fantasy.

    hope this helps

yes i was coming to that conclusion but at the same time although i was thinking on the lines that they are two different animal with two different but similar shapes so one might have an advantage over another... but yes your opinion seems viable... thanks

coyotes are by no means athletic machines. they're scrawny scavengers and they have their good and bad days just like any wild animal. they like to test the waters around here, i had one try to come up to my truck last week i think, i couldnt get to my 12 guage fast enough

I didn't read any above posts, but coyotes on the run are FAST AS FUCK. It generally takes two sighthounds to cut-off a coyote to be able to catch it. The old hound guys around here (KANSAS) say one sighthound alone most times cant catch one....and sighthounds are faster than bulldogs...by a lot

Just hope the apbt doesn't run into a pack or his ass won't live much longer. He make take one with him,but they will kill his for it.Seen it happen once.Just my 2 cents.

not the same but,my old stafford would never have even got near to a fox in open ground but caught a couple in dense cover (pre-ban)

A bulldog can do it and crush them in most cases once caught but there is much better breeds of animal to do this, the coyote people are using the crosses of bulldogs to sighthounds to effectively catch these animals and it is fun to watch! Yes a good dog one on one will be adequate 99% of the time, the coyotes will run before they square off unless they have no choice out there. Some use smaller dogs like the whippets to bring them then and when close the catch dogs are sent.

I had a German Rottweiler when i was a young boy who ran into a whole pack of coyotes and killed most of them before the survivers ran off. You dont have to believe it but its true coyotes arent good fighters and survival is there first instinct. I dont know the difference between the coyotes down south compared to the ones up north but ours usually range from 15 to 35 lbs. Hardly what I would consider a match for any bulldog even in numbers. Unless they are a BIG pack

Exactly right, I picked one up off the side of the road that had to be in the 45-50 range, biggest male I had ever seen. Coyotes aren't very big animals, most fear them for no reason. They are a bigger versions of foxes pretty much, not much to them and no heart what so ever at all! Seen possums have more heart, lol.

the pure coyote isnt what worry me its when they get mixed with larger breeds that worry me like half dog half yote it happens alot around here actually 45-50 lb coyote i seriously doubt is was full blooded coyote had to have been from a domestic dog breeding in there somewhere i think that is why they are gettin so ballsy as to come up as close as they do in the middle of the night to the houses in the area you are liable to see them in daylight standing in your backyard out here they are just a nuisance animal always killing cattle and shit in packs i wouldnt mind going yote hunting if i had the right animals for it other than that a rabbit call in a recorder and a piece of meat on a treble hook works good for em lol

not at all, you have to use a greyhound or staghound, its not like catchin hogs, these races go upwards to half mile to a mile, stamina wise, apbt just doesnt have that type of gas, especially at 40+mph, ask him to try it at least 10 times, then tell him to tell us how it went, but Id call it 10 times smoked by the yote

i know someone who has an APBT that killed 2 coyotes while being attacked and he was on the chain...took a beating on his backend but managed to survive the ordeal!
