i just seen this on another site and tbh i was shocked by it.
their religion and they can do what they want but im going to start making sure i check im not buying halal meat from now on.

also i'd like to see all halal meat clearly marked as halal.

 

Your shocked that slaughtering animals is bloody? What did you think happened? Do a little research into how chickens are slaughtered.

i agree. bolt gun is instant- bleeding out is far from it. yes- it will be food, but i even as a carnivore, think that undue suffering is cruel.

 

personaly im less worried about the animal and more worried about how shitty the meat tastes when you drain it like that.
go shoot a deer and see how long it can take them to die, ive shot deer in the heart and seen em run 200 yards. death is a part of life, and even if u dont like seing it its nesecary and a part of nature...
and death in nature is typicaly alot worse than a swift throat cuting, more like their teeth wear down then they get weak lay down n cant get up then a coyote comes and eats their ass alive starting with the stomach

not saying i aagree with their method because ours tastes better and like any sane person i dont enjoy seing animals suffer needlessly, but im not going to judge someone based on how they prepare their dinner(except those crazy chinese folk that put dogs in lil cages and skins em alive because they beleive suffering before death makes the meat taste better)

They do the exact same thing for kosher meat, according to Jewish tradition...

 

I take it none of you are very religious or have dedicated time to read the bible, torah, or qur'an. If you have then you will understand why.

Read the old testament (torah)...leviticus. Moses himself instructed everybody to do this... and as far as draining the blood, its an abomination to eat meat with blood.

There cannot be any blood left in the meat for it to be Kosher. Thus the animal must be bled to death instead of killed instantaneously.

I'm not a fan of it. I'm not an ARista by any stretch of the imagination, but I do think this is more cruel to an animal than just putting it out of its misery.

And I don't see the comparison to hunting. At least with hunting your food, the animal is on more equal ground. Animals for slaughter have no chance.

Firstly im not a religious person & could nt give a fuck about religion the only people i worship are my family as they & my dogs are the only ones who make me happy so dont be going on about the bible , torah, quoran to me, was jesus the king of the jews ?? & look what happened to him . so theyre all out to control the masses & im not one of your believers IF anything id worship ODIN as when you go to valhala you get sex ,drink & fighting so long live ODIN.

sorry but if it came down to killing a cow with a air compressed framing gun for religious reasons or captive bolt, id still pick captive bolt, cause whats the diffrence, religion starts more war and violence and suffering than anything else in the world, why should food be any diffent eh!,

all about your personal prefrence i guess, if your that extreme about your religion you eat only halal meat there you go, i used to get my meats from butchers that would only butcher cattle and goats and sheep, no pork ever, that was there religion , each there own, god didnt create gillitean hooks on conveirs for bleeding goats, man did, so eat what you want i guess, on the farm we were raise just doit properly and quickly, so you dont get shitty meat

 

The scientific facts

A team at the university of Hannover in Germany examined these claims through the use of EEG and ECG records during slaughter. Several electrodes were surgically implanted at various points of the skull of all the animals used in the experiment and they were then allowed to recover for several weeks. Some of the animals were subsequently slaughtered the halal way by making a swift, deep incision with a sharp knife on the neck, cutting the jugular veins and carotid arteries of both sides together with the trachea and esophagus but leaving the spinal cord intact. The remainder were stunned before slaughter using a captive bolt pistol method as is customary in Western slaughterhouses. The EEG and ECG recordings allowed to monitor the condition of the brain and heart throughout.

The Halal method

With the halal method of slaughter, there was not change in the EEG graph for the first three seconds after the incision was made, indicating that the animal did not feel any pain from the cut itself. This is not surprising. Often, if we cut ourselves with a sharp implement, we do not notice until some time later. The following three seconds were characterised by a condition of deep sleep-like unconciousness brought about by the draining of large quantities of blood from the body. Thereafter the EEG recorded a zero reading, indicating no pain at all, yet at that time the heart was still beating and the body convulsing vigorously as a reflex reaction of the spinal cord. It is this phase which is most unpleasant to onlookers who are falsely convinced that the animal suffers whilst its brain does actually no longer record any sensual messages.

The Western method

Using the Western method, the animals were apparently unconscious after stunning, and this method of dispatch would appear to be much more peaceful for the onlooker. However, the EEG readings indicated severe pain immediately after stunning. Whereas in the first example, the animal seizes to feel pain due to the brain starvation of blood and oxygen – a brain death, to put it in laymen’s terms – the second example first causes a stoppage of the heart whilst the animal still feels pain. However, there are no unsightly convulsions, which not only means that there is more blood retention in the meat, but also that this method lends itself much more conveniently to the efficiency demands of modern mass slaughter procedures. It is so much easier to dispatch an animal on the conveyor belt, if it does not move.

a vet will even come and slice a cows troat if its downed, but the thing it used for them cows looked a lil slow, but you said they need to be alive to bleed out, but in reallty the cow is still beating the blood out either way you kill it, and they both get hung the same , so i dont see much of a diffrence other than speed of the process
