Game dogs

I have been lurking on this board for months. I have read several posts and many of you seem to know what you are talking about. I have been in the military for the last few years and am just coming home. I grew up with game dogs all my life and now I am ready to go out on my own. I have a good jeep dog that I want breed. Do you guys think that the redboy blood out there now is still good to cross with the jeep blood or is there something that has proven to be better?

FWIW I love the Jeep/Redboy dogs that we had 10 years ago. I have always liked chinaman dogs also.

 

IMO redboy is the most watered down stuff out there because of the paper breeders and the peddlers.. alot of them dogs were being bred just for 30x redboy over looking faults and everything...i guess that can be said about alot of lines but IMO this one more then others...Just look at the pics of some of the modern day RB dogs and you can see tons of faults but pretty peds...But. Jeep/redboy/rascal is a winner and usualy in hi %. so i guess its like anything, do your homework and find the right line. You dont have to go with straight redboy...you can run shit through blackjack..the yellow family..lots of options..good luck and welcome home

 

i agree with Edd, unless you know the Rb source and it's legitimacy thenbe aware of what ed posted. Choco, you got a ped for that jeep dog?

 

if you have jeep i'd go to a good j/rb dog rather than a pure rb dog bc of what was stated earlier. their is 1 rb dog i can think of however that i would breed to in a heartbeat...

 

Do you have a ped, is she straight Jeep or does she have any outs?

 

you may like j/rb dogs but just like everyone else said theres so much out there that it's hard to find a good breeder of it let alone a good dog. You should look into jeep/renegade or jeep/outlaw or jeep/gunther dogs. They aren't as wide spread as j/rb but if you can find it :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I got the jeep dog from my grandfather, who has had the blood for probably 20 years. He isn't straight jeep, but I am not certain what the out is. I will have to talk to my grandpa about it. I have been hearing that the redboy dogs are watered down to nothing in a lot of cases, which is a shame because that cross was usually a fire ass dog. Thanks for all your responses.

 

Did you figure out the out yet? and honestly I dont care what these dudes are saying i've seen ALOT of good Redboy blood that wasnt the least bit watered down.. Its about where you find the dog

thats the case w every line, rb jus is more extreme than most others. there were 3 rb dogs i would consider bulldogs and 1 is now RIP so....

 

There is some great RB dogs out there. You will pay but they are there.
